Job Summary

Medecision is looking for a hands-on Software Architect who blends strong application development experience (ideally Java) with modern architectural design, microservices, and cloud/platform engineering expertise. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the code—guiding engineering teams, designing distributed systems, and shaping technical direction—without being removed into high-level “ivory tower” architecture.

You’ll partner with engineering, DevOps, product, and platform teams to design scalable systems, lead proof-of-concepts, and provide the technical guardrails that enable our teams to build high-quality software.

This is a high-impact strategic role with deep technical ownership, not a pure engineering or pure infrastructure position.

To be successful at Medecision the Software Architect will understand what a customer centric organization entails and be able to infuse that ideology in your contributions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in highly-distributed architectures, application development, Java-based applications, data pipelines, scalability, excellent communication skills, and experience with Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure. Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable and reliable software architectures for complex systems leveraging the Google Cloud Platform.
• Work closely with the development team to design, implement, and test Java-based applications.
• Design and implement data stores and pipelines to process and analyze large volumes of data.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and design solutions that meet their needs.
• Ensure the security and compliance of software systems by following industry best practices.
• Mentor and coach development leads and developers.
• Keep up to date with the latest trends and innovations in technology to drive continuous improvement.
• Follow and comply with all security policies and procedures established by the organization, including adherence to HIPAA and HITRUST regulations

Education And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a software architect; preferably with experience in cloud platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience with designing and implementing data pipelines using tools like Apache Kafka, Apache Beam, or cloud-native equivalents.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
• Experience in healthcare and payer platforms is a plus.
• Experience working in distributed multi-tenant software products is a plus.
• Google Cloud Platform certification is a plus.

Salary Description

$160,000 - $175,000
