What To Expect
The Tesla Engineering Technician Program (ETP) is an intensive 12-week training initiative at De Anza College, designed to equip students with the technical skills required for a successful career as an Engineering Technician at Tesla. Participants gain in-depth knowledge in reliability testing, high-voltage electrical systems, diagnostics, mechanical fabrication, and safety protocols through a blend of theoretical instruction, hands-on labs, and practical exercises. This non-exempt position offers full pay and benefits as a Tesla Engineering Technician Trainee, with successful graduates transitioning to a full-time Engineering Technician role upon completion.
What You'll Do
Engineering Technician
Support reliability validation and testing of components, systems, and vehicles in lab and manufacturing environmentsExecute environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing using chambers, shaker tables, and other test equipmentPerform detailed failure analysis and reporting, including high-quality photography, documentation, and corrective action recommendationsConduct instrumentation setup, data acquisition, sensor calibration, and data visualization for test programsAssemble, maintain, and troubleshoot test equipment and fixturesSafely service and diagnose high-voltage electric vehicle systems, adhering to proper deactivation procedures and using HV PPEPerform electrical diagnostics, wire harness repair, soldering, crimping, and PCBA rework on low- and high-voltage systems
