About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our Discovery Content and Navigation (CAN) team. This team’s mission is to enhance the buyer experience by capturing intent and content signals to develop a seamless, engaging, and personalized navigation ecosystem. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models that power our search, recommendations, and content discovery features. You will lead projects from conception to production, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement scalable ML solutions that improve user engagement and satisfaction. Your expertise will help us optimize our categorization, content understanding, and intent detection, ensuring our platform remains intuitive and highly relevant for our users. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where innovation, technical excellence, and user impact are at the forefront of everything we do.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of industry experience building and deploying machine learning models at scale
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and common ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn
- Hands-on experience with applied statistical methods and machine learning techniques in areas like search, recommendations, natural language processing, and content understanding
- Strong understanding of large language models and natural language processing applications
- Experience with data collection, feature engineering, model training, deployment, and online experimentation
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence cross-functional teams and drive project success
- Product-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering user-centric solutions
- Ability to ship features rapidly while maintaining high quality and technical standards
- Relevant experience working in high-growth startup environments or similar fast-paced settings
- Location within commuting distance of our US hubs in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle (remote flexible work options available)
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development and productionization of machine learning models that capture intent and content signals for personalized navigation, search, and recommendations
- Design and implement scalable ML solutions to support product initiatives such as category and brand recommendations, live stream promotion, and content relevance
- Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate ML models into production systems
- Develop data pipelines, perform feature engineering, and optimize models for real-world deployment
- Conduct online experiments to evaluate model performance and iterate to improve accuracy and relevance
- Establish and promote best practices for ML development, deployment, and monitoring across the organization
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to continuously enhance our platform capabilities
- Support cross-team initiatives to improve the overall discovery ecosystem, ensuring a seamless user experience
