Senior Rust Engineer — AI Data Infrastructure
About The Role

We're looking for a Senior Rust Full-Stack Engineer to build, optimize, and scale the data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems that leading AI labs depend on — every single day.
This is a fully remote contract role for engineers who think deeply about performance, care about correctness, and want their work to matter at scale.

What You'll Do
- Design and build high-performance, production-grade systems in Rust that underpin AI data pipelines and evaluation workflows
- Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for large-scale data annotation, validation, and quality control
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks — from memory layout issues to concurrency inefficiencies — and implement scalable, lasting fixes
- Improve reliability, safety, and performance across existing Rust codebases
- Collaborate closely with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training and evaluation at scale
- Participate in synchronous design reviews and iterate on system architecture with sharp, opinionated engineers
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience writing production Rust — this is not a learning opportunity, it's a mastery showcase
- Deep expertise in data parallelism and concurrency patterns to maximize CPU saturation
- Thorough understanding of memory layout, SIMD optimizations, and heap allocation minimization — you find and fix performance issues others miss
- Native or fluent English speaker with clear, precise written and verbal communication
- Able to commit 20–40 hours per week with consistency and professionalism
- Self-directed and dependable — you deliver without hand-holding
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality pipelines, or AI evaluation systems
- Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, model training pipelines, or benchmarking infrastructure
- Experience with distributed systems or developer tooling at scale
