For our client, we are seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.
This role will lead the design, development, testing, and debugging of real-time embedded software for complex defense systems. The position partners closely with engineering teams and product stakeholders to translate requirements into sustainable software solutions, while also contributing to planning, documentation, and continuous improvement. You will help resolve challenging technical issues, enhance user experience based on customer feedback, and support mission-critical programs in a highly collaborative environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $108,900 – $145,200 annually
Responsibilities
- Participate in product planning discussions and generate software specifications
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop sustainable software solutions
- Plan, design, develop, and test new embedded systems software
- Implement and debug embedded software including drivers and applications
- Diagnose and resolve complex software defects
- Enhance user experience based on customer feedback
- Develop software design and test documentation
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship with active US DoD clearance required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- 8-12+ years in software development, including complex applications
- 5+ years in developing software systems
- 4+ years in software project leadership
- Expertise in real-time embedded software development
- Hands-on experience with C/C++, Linux, VxWorks, and related technologies
