Little Medical School of the Treasure Coast & Broward is looking for dependable, energetic individuals who love working with children and want to inspire the next generation of healthcare heroes.

As an Instructor, you’ll bring healthcare to life through hands-on, interactive lessons in after-school programs, field trips, and camps. Students explore medicine, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary science, sports medicine, and more while building confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning.

No teaching experience? That’s okay! We provide the training, curriculum, and support you need to feel confident leading your classes.

POSITION DETAILS

Position: Instructor

Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

Starting Pay: $30 per class

Travel: Reimbursement available

Locations: School and community sites throughout the Treasure Coast & Broward

Minimum Commitment: 1 year

Session Length: Typically 6–12 weeks

SCHEDULING & AVAILABILITY

Our programs are scheduled in advance, and instructors are assigned to classes based on their availability and program needs.

This is not an on-call or drop-in position. Once assigned to a class, instructors must commit to the scheduled day and time for the entire 6–12 week session.

Example: If you are available Fridays from 3:00–5:00 PM and we have an 8-week Friday program available, you may be assigned to that class and expected to attend all 8 sessions.

School Year

Most programs are held weekday afternoons between 1:00–5:00 PM. Applicants should be available for at least 3 weekday afternoons per week.

Summer

Summer schedules may vary and generally fall between 8:00 AM–3:30 PM, depending on the program or location.

Program Commitment

Programs typically run for 6–12 consecutive weeks. Instructors must be able to commit to the entire session, including all scheduled class dates.

Example: If you are available Fridays from 3:00–5:00 PM and we have an 8-week Friday program available during that time, you may be assigned to that class and expected to attend all 8 classes.

Please only indicate days and times when you can reliably commit for the full length of a session.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Teach engaging, hands-on lessons to K–8 students

• Introduce students to healthcare topics including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary science, and sports medicine

• Follow Little Medical School curriculum and lesson plans

• Create a fun, positive, and inclusive learning environment

• Arrive prepared and on time for every class

• Set up and clean up classroom materials

• Protect Little Medical Schools' copyrighted curriculum and materials

• Communicate professionally with students, families, school partners, and the LMS team

• Maintain a safe and welcoming classroom

• Represent Little Medical School professionally at every program

YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:

• Are 18 years or older

• Have a reliable vehicle and transportation

• Enjoy working with children

• Are dependable, professional, energetic, and self-motivated

• Are comfortable leading a group and working independently

• Have availability that aligns with our scheduled programs

• Can commit to a minimum of one year

• Can successfully complete all required screening and clearance requirements

SCREENING & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Because you’ll be working directly with children, all instructors must:

• Successfully complete a Level 2 background screening

• Meet all school, facility, and program-specific clearance requirements

• Successfully complete a drug screening if required by the specific school or program location

• Follow all child safety, protection, and program policies

• Maintain professional conduct while representing Little Medical School

Please note: Drug screening is not automatically required for every instructor. It is only required when mandated by a specific school, facility, or community partner.

Final placement is contingent upon successfully meeting the screening and clearance requirements of the assigned location.
