About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced .NET API Developer to join our Systems Administration team within the Innovation and Technology department. This full-time, remote position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Systems Administration and plays a vital role in developing and maintaining REST APIs for our proprietary CRM platform, Sunshine. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in architecting API solutions, building integrations, and supporting the technological backbone that enables our veterinarians to deliver exceptional care in the field. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a cross-functional team, collaborating with developers, cloud administrators, project managers, and leadership to translate business needs into robust, scalable software solutions. The successful candidate will have a passion for building high-quality, testable code, and a keen interest in leveraging AI tools to enhance development workflows while maintaining a human-in-the-loop approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 3-5 years of experience with C# and .NET 8
• 3-5 years of experience working with Entity Framework (EF8 or newer)
• 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• 3-5 years of experience developing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core Web API
• Proficiency in writing unit tests with Xunit and Moq
• Experience working in multi-cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure
• Solid understanding of REST API best practices and JavaScript/React for front-end interaction
• Experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Autofac and ASP.NET Core DI
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and JWT Bearer authentication workflows, preferably using Entra AD
• Familiarity with observability tools such as AWS Open Search, Cloud Watch, or Azure Application Insights
• Ability to utilize AI tools like Claude Code in a development workflow
  
  

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing API endpoints for the Sunshine CRM platform, ensuring scalability and security
• Maintain and enhance backend integration stacks for third-party APIs to support various business functions
• Collaborate with the core Sunshine development team to refactor existing APIs, troubleshoot performance issues, and optimize data access layers
• Create comprehensive API documentation using tools such as Swagger to facilitate internal and external integrations
• Monitor workload performance, analyze metrics, and identify opportunities for system improvements
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Support DevOps initiatives by working with cloud administrators and developers on CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and cloud provisioning
• Implement secure authentication workflows using OAuth 2.0 and JWT, integrating with Entra AD as the identity provider
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to streamline coding processes while maintaining quality and accuracy
