About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II specializing in API Development and Cloud Migration to join our dynamic team remotely in Arizona, North Carolina, or Texas. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and modernizing enterprise APIs across our Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms. The successful candidate will play a critical role in transforming legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native, API-driven solutions that facilitate seamless integration across internal and external systems. You will be involved throughout the entire API lifecycle—from architecture and development to deployment, governance, and ongoing support—collaborating with cross-functional teams including architects, product owners, and business stakeholders. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in software application development and maintenance; or High School Diploma/GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• At least 2+ years of experience working with enterprise-scale APIs utilizing AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, and KMS.
• Proven experience in Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, RESTful API development, and microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and event-driven architectures is highly desirable.
• Experience leading API modernization and cloud migration projects, including decomposition of monolithic applications into microservices.
• Familiarity with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and observability tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, or Grafana.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and support secure, scalable, and high-performing APIs and microservices for Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms.
• Participate in the modernization and migration of APIs and integration services from on-premises environments to AWS cloud-native architectures.
• Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, and KMS.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS-native technologies, adhering to enterprise architecture and security standards.
• Support and improve existing API platforms by troubleshooting issues, implementing new functionalities, and optimizing performance and resiliency.
• Develop event-driven solutions utilizing Apache Kafka, Amazon SNS, and Amazon SQS to support real-time processing of payments and money movement.
• Create, deploy, and support containerized applications using OpenShift, Docker, and AWS ECS platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Implement secure coding practices and API security controls, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management.
• Optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability through performance tuning, proactive monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in API migration activities, including legacy application assessment, refactoring, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Automate provisioning and deployment of cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines to enable automated build, testing, and deployment processes.
• Utilize observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, Grafana, and Splunk to maintain application health and troubleshoot issues.
• Participate in on-call support, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure platform stability.
• Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, and adherence to engineering best practices to maintain high-quality software development standards.
