About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Drupal Frontend Engineer (Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to design, develop, and maintain modern, high-performance digital platforms primarily for a federal healthcare initiative serving approximately 11 million monthly users. Your expertise in Drupal frontend architecture, including component-based design and modular systems, will be instrumental in optimizing public access to healthcare services while ensuring accessibility and security compliance. The ideal candidate will work independently to uphold team standards for quality, performance, and WCAG accessibility, contributing across the entire technology stack—software, data, infrastructure, AI, and security—to deliver innovative and scalable solutions. This position requires obtaining and maintaining a federal Public Trust clearance and meeting CMS residency requirements. The role offers flexibility with primarily remote work, with occasional travel to client sites or company meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of web development experience, with demonstrated expertise in Drupal 10 and/or Drupal 11 frontend development
- Strong familiarity with modern Drupal frontend architectures, including Single Directory Components (SDC) and JavaScript frameworks
- Experience integrating Web Components within Drupal themes
- Proficiency in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and modern styling practices such as PostCSS workflows
- Experience modifying React-based applications or similar JavaScript frameworks and integrating them into Drupal
- Ability to support backend development tasks, including Drupal configuration management and basic module development
- Proven experience in writing Cypress end-to-end tests for code quality assurance
- Experience working collaboratively within Git repositories, utilizing forks, branching workflows, and conflict resolution
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and ceremonies
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Drupal.org username required
- Ability to meet CMS residency requirements
Responsibilities
- Apply modular, component-based approaches to extend and implement design systems within Drupal themes using tools like Storybook and Single Directory Components
- Architect and develop secure, performant, and well-documented JavaScript code adhering to established standards
- Implement and maintain Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) across all digital touchpoints to ensure inclusivity
- Develop and maintain PostCSS workflows and modern styling practices within Drupal theme architecture
- Integrate Web Components into Drupal themes to enhance functionality and user experience
- Write and execute integration and end-to-end tests (e.g., Cypress) to ensure code quality, reliability, and regression coverage
- Utilize debugging tools for JavaScript and PHP to streamline development workflows and improve code quality
- Support backend development activities such as Drupal configuration management and module development
- Collaborate within Git repositories, managing code through forks, branches, and conflict resolution
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, balancing multiple projects and sharing codebases effectively
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable digital solutions that meet project and organizational goals
