About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud Engineer to join our UNIX Server Operations team. This pivotal role serves as a bridge between traditional UNIX server management and modern cloud-native delivery, ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our UNIX infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead efforts in cloud migration, automation of CI/CD pipelines, and secure lifecycle management, contributing to the modernization of legacy workloads into Azure. Leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools, the Cloud Engineer will drive operational efficiencies across our hybrid cloud environment. This role requires a blend of deep UNIX expertise and cloud automation proficiency, with a focus on designing and maintaining robust cloud DevOps pipelines and ensuring compliance with security standards.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in UNIX Server Operations and Cloud Automation with a High School Diploma, or 10+ years with an Associate’s Degree, or 8+ years with a Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
- Proven expertise designing and maintaining Cloud DevOps pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Azure services such as App Services, Key Vault, Storage, Networking, and Azure Monitor.
- Proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Puppet, Ruby, REST APIs, and familiarity with CI/CD principles.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as ARM, Bicep, and Terraform.
- Practical knowledge of IaC-based configuration management tools like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef.
- In-depth UNIX administration skills, particularly with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and security policies.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and incident management.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Preferred certifications including Azure Solution Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, DevOps Engineer, AWS Solution Architect Professional, AWS CloudOps Engineer, or AWS Developer.
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST 800-171, or NIST 800-53 is a plus.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, and VLAN segmentation.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain UNIX server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives, modernizing legacy workloads into Azure environments.
- Develop, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
- Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using ARM, Bicep, and Terraform.
- Automate system configurations and updates using configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible, or Chef.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure security and compliance with industry standards.
- Perform root cause analysis on system and pipeline failures, managing critical incidents effectively.
- Leverage containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for application deployment and management.
- Monitor cloud and on-premises infrastructure using Azure Monitor and other tools, optimizing resource utilization.
- Maintain documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and best practices to continuously improve system capabilities.
- Participate in security assessments and implement necessary controls to safeguard data and infrastructure.
