A leading technology services company, specializing in delivering innovative solutions for complex data challenges, is seeking a skilled Database Engineer.
The Role
- Administer and performance tune PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, as the owner of a production database.
- Work with Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) on Google Cloud Platform, provisioning and configuring instances.
- Utilize Database Migration Service (DMS) and Datastream (or equivalent CDC tools) for database migration and replication.
- Respond to on-call incidents specifically related to database issues.
- Implement migration best practices, focusing on minimal-downtime cutovers, validation, and rollback strategies.
- Troubleshoot replication lag and data consistency problems.
What You'll Need
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
- Proven experience with Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) on Google Cloud Platform.
- Expertise in Database Migration Service (DMS) and Datastream or similar CDC tools.
- Demonstrated on-call/incident-response experience for production databases.
- Solid understanding of migration best practices and strategies.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex replication and data consistency issues.
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
