About The Role
HiringThing is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This pivotal role focuses on enhancing and maintaining our staging and production infrastructure hosted within Amazon Web Services (AWS). The successful candidate will play a vital part in our security protocols and deployment procedures, working closely with our CTO and VP of Product to refine and implement strategies that support our growing platform. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for delivering and supporting high-quality services and systems that surpass customer expectations, while providing excellent internal stakeholder support. Additionally, this role offers significant influence over product direction, technological decisions, and infrastructure development priorities, making it a key contributor to the company's ongoing success and scalability.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
- At least 2 years of experience in infrastructure automation, such as Terraform
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible
- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails framework
- Experience managing hosting environments for SaaS applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team
- Self-driven with the capability to formulate and execute DevOps strategies
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS-based, cloud-hosted infrastructure to ensure a reliable and scalable SaaS environment
- Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to facilitate fast, secure, and consistent software delivery across development, staging, and production environments
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security metrics; implement improvements as needed
- Support incident response activities, conduct root cause analysis, and lead post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence
- Plan and execute Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) scenarios to ensure system resilience
- Work proactively with the engineering team to identify and resolve performance issues
- Maintain security policies and ensure compliance with SOC II standards
- Create comprehensive internal documentation covering systems, workflows, and operational procedures
- Manage on-call rotations and respond promptly to system alerts and issues
- Develop and present DevOps strategies aligned with company goals and technological advancements
- Identify opportunities to improve observability, scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency of infrastructure
- Manage the Bounty Hunter program to promote security and vulnerability management
