About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our growing insurance technology company remotely. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex data projects, develop scalable data pipelines, and contribute to our data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Python, SQL, and distributed data systems, with hands-on experience in cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP. You will play a key role in designing and implementing data architectures that support our analytics and business intelligence initiatives. Occasional in-person meetings in New York City may be required, but the majority of work can be performed remotely, offering flexibility and work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Data Engineering or related fields.
• Proficiency in Python programming and SQL database management.
• Extensive experience with distributed data systems and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of Snowflake data warehouse is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling techniques, including Kimball, Data Vault, or Medallion Architecture.
• Experience with data transformation tools like dbt and workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster or Airflow.
• Willingness to meet in person occasionally in New York City.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support business analytics and reporting needs.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement and optimize data models using techniques such as Kimball, Data Vault, or Medallion Architecture.
• Manage cloud-based data warehouses and ensure data security, integrity, and compliance.
• Automate data workflows using tools like dbt, Dagster, or Airflow to streamline data processing tasks.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure high performance and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and best practices to maintain high-quality standards.
• Stay updated with emerging data engineering technologies and incorporate them into our infrastructure as appropriate.
