About the Opportunity

The Lead Software Development Engineer leads efforts to advance quality engineering through scalable test automation, modern software engineering practices, and AI-enabled development capabilities. This role designs automation frameworks, establishes engineering standards, and integrates quality controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle. The position plays a key role in improving development efficiency, reliability, observability, and overall software quality across product teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, maintainable automation frameworks and shared engineering tools.

• Develop comprehensive testing capabilities across browser, API, integration, contract, performance, accessibility, and end-to-end testing.

• Establish standards for automation architecture, code quality, testability, maintainability, and reliability.

• Integrate automated quality checks and validation into CI/CD pipelines to improve delivery speed, stability, and diagnostics.

• Implement observability capabilities including logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerts.

• Collaborate with Development, DevOps, SRE, Security, Architecture, and Release teams to improve quality and reduce duplicated engineering efforts.

• Identify opportunities to modernize testing processes and replace manual workflows with scalable automation.

• Evaluate and implement AI-assisted engineering capabilities to improve development and testing productivity.

• Mentor engineers and quality professionals in software development, automation, DevOps, and AI-assisted engineering practices.

• Promote engineering standards and best practices across product teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related technical fields, including leadership and mentoring responsibilities.

• Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, or a comparable programming language, with experience developing automation frameworks or engineering platforms.

• Hands-on experience with browser automation tools such as Playwright or Selenium WebDriver and modern testing methodologies.

• Experience integrating automated testing and quality controls with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, cloud services, modern software architectures, and observability practices.

• Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Codex and familiarity with AI-enabled software development workflows.

• Ability to evaluate, validate, and govern AI-generated code and autonomous development workflows.

• Strong software design, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building shared engineering platforms, developer productivity tools, or reusable automation infrastructure.

• Familiarity with observability technologies such as OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Grafana, or Splunk.

• Understanding of performance engineering, application security, accessibility, resiliency, and production validation.

• Experience with AI techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, and multi-agent systems.

• Experience modernizing manual testing processes into scalable automated solutions.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
