McKesson Pharmacy Systems (MPS) is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Data Insights team. In this role, you will build and support scalable data solutions that power reporting, analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision making across the organization.
You will work with modern cloud data technologies including Snowflake, SQL, Matillion, and Azure to develop data pipelines, optimize data warehouse performance, and ensure the delivery of reliable, high-quality data products. This role partners closely with engineers, architects, product teams, analysts, and business stakeholders to transform data into actionable insights. This team is open to considering qualified applicants outside of Irving, TX.
About The Role
The Software Engineer within the Data Insights team at McKesson will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data warehouse solutions and pipelines. You will leverage your expertise in SQL, cloud data platforms, and ETL/ELT processes to support the organization’s analytics and reporting needs. Your role involves integrating data from various enterprise systems, ensuring data quality and integrity, and optimizing performance across the data ecosystem. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is key as you translate business requirements into robust, scalable data solutions that enable data-driven decision making. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving data pipeline issues, supporting deployment processes, and adhering to modern development practices such as source control, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies. This position offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, with a flexible schedule balancing on-site and remote work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Typically 4+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, software development, or data warehousing
- Strong proficiency in SQL development, including complex queries and performance tuning
- Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and data quality practices
- Familiarity with Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

- Create SQL-based transformations, data models, and integrations to support reporting and analytics
- Integrate data from Oracle and other enterprise systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency
- Optimize data warehouse performance through query tuning and efficient architecture practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, production environments, and data quality
- Implement and support modern development practices including version control, CI/CD, and testing
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, well-documented data solutions
