Quantitative Developer, Data Optimization

Overview:
Join our client’s dynamic team as a Quantitative Developer specializing in Data Optimization. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in transforming raw data into high-performance, application-ready datasets that power advanced quantitative analysis. Emphasizing data integrity, efficiency, and reliability, you’ll help the team operate with greater speed and confidence, supporting innovative financial and investment strategies within a collaborative and inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and creative problem-solving.

Compensation:
$132,000 - $198,000 annually

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance middle-tier OLTP schemas and materialized tables to expedite data access for applications
  • Overhaul complex bottom-up models and preprocessing workflows, focusing inputs on core data subsets
  • Establish data agreements using Dagster and dbt, along with automated validation tests and drift detection mechanisms
  • Develop and uphold data validation layers that prevent issues before deployment in production
  • Partner closely with the Performance Tech Lead to ensure seamless data flow between storage systems and computational models
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to track data pipeline performance and latency
  • Record data lineage and transformation processes to promote transparency and team collaboration

    Requirements:

    • 3-6 years of hands-on development experience with a focus on data engineering or data-intensive applications
    • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or equivalent professional experience
    • Demonstrated expertise in Python and its core data libraries (pandas, numpy, polars)
    • Advanced SQL capabilities, including query tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis
    • Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools such as Dagster, dbt, or Airflow
    • Solid understanding of OLTP versus OLAP data patterns and their appropriate use cases
    • Proven track record in applying data contracts, schema validation, and automated testing in pipeline workflows
    • Familiarity with data quality frameworks and drift detection techniques
    • Knowledge of materialized views, incremental data processing, and caching strategies
    • Experience working with cloud data platforms, preferably Azure
    • Nice-to-have: background in financial or time-series data analysis and pipelines
