About the Role
The Roving Batch Operator is responsible for batching concrete products using computer or manual controls, ensuring proper mix designs, making necessary raw material adjustments, and performing daily plant maintenance. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
This position supports multiple plant locations across Dallas and Forney.
What You’ll Accomplish
- Batch concrete efficiently using computer or manual controls while adhering to approved mix designs
- Make raw material adjustments as directed by Quality Control
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of proper application of each mix design
- Complete customer orders, schedule deliveries, and manage required paperwork
- Perform minor plant maintenance and daily housekeeping
- Operate front-end loader or other material handling equipment when needed to charge plant with aggregates and materials
- Communicate effectively with drivers to complete customer orders efficiently
- Schedule deliveries to meet customer needs
- Conduct daily plant and equipment inspections
- Perform manual tasks including lifting, shoveling, lubricating components, and minor adjustments
- Prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently
- Collaborate with plant management to address operational issues
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental laws, regulations, and company policies
- Promptly report unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents
- Promote a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- 1–3 years of related experience in customer service or dispatch environment required
Technical & Job Skills:
- Experience with dispatch systems
- Proficiency using personal computers, telephone systems, and headsets
- Basic computer and mathematics skills
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods
- Ability to climb equipment, stairs, and ladders
- Ability to walk on uneven, slippery, or enclosed surfaces
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty)
- Willingness to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays and overnight shifts
Additional Requirements
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators when required
- Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit testing, subject to applicable law
