Job Description
We are looking for a
Database Engineer / Data Foundations Engineer to support the Client project team in designing, developing, and optimizing modern data architectures. The ideal candidate will build scalable data pipelines and enable analytics and machine learning use cases across Wallet, Payments, and Commerce products.
This role involves designing large relational databases, developing ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and performance. The engineer will collaborate with product, data engineering, and delivery teams to build reliable, secure, and scalable data platforms.
The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining data integrity, implementing governance practices, and ensuring compliance, reliability, and availability of mission-critical data systems.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Architecture
- Design and implement scalable batch and near real-time data pipelines.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows optimized for performance and cost efficiency.
- Build and manage large relational databases and modern data platforms.
- Implement dimensional data models and standardize business metrics.
- Instrument APIs and user journeys to capture behavioral and transactional data.
- Optimize database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and system functionality.
Data Governance & Quality
- Ensure data integrity, governance, privacy, and compliance.
- Implement and enforce database security measures.
- Perform data validation and quality checks to maintain database accuracy.
- Maintain high availability and reliability of mission-critical data systems.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering for analytics or machine learning systems.
- Strong proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with Python, Scala, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with Spark, Kafka, and Airflow (or similar tools).
- Strong understanding of data modeling and lakehouse architectures (e.g., Iceberg).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Trino, OLAP/NRT systems, Superset, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, data observability, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Comfortable participating in a rotating on-call schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to MLOps and GenAI / RAG pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs (prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG).
- Experience working in FinTech, Wallet, or Payments domains.
