About The Role
The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Mission Systems Software Developer (Experienced & Senior) to join our team within Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) located in Daytona Beach, Florida. This role is integral to our mission of delivering advanced avionics and mission-critical software solutions for military aircraft and space systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, integration, and testing of software that enhances platform capabilities and maintains our technological edge over potential adversaries. Daytona Beach's state-of-the-art facility emphasizes engineering excellence, offering a stimulating environment for innovative software development. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including hardware, flight simulation, and operational analysis, to deliver high-quality, reliable software solutions that support national security and defense objectives.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a minimum of four years of professional experience in software development using languages such as Ada, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of experience working within projects employing various software development methodologies. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics from an accredited institution is preferred, along with five or more years of higher education and/or related work experience. Candidates must hold or have held a U.S. security clearance within the last 24 months. Strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively in team environments, and experience developing embedded real-time software and models are highly desirable. Familiarity with real-time operating systems, object-oriented analysis and design, open architecture standards, and collaboration tools such as Git, JIRA, and VersionOne will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Support software development activities within agile teams focused on integrating and implementing solutions onto various platforms.
- Develop high-fidelity simulation and environment software tools to enable rapid development, testing, and deployment of high-quality solutions for military applications.
- Utilize analytical problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues for Boeing and its suppliers.
- Apply engineering principles to deliver enhanced weapon system capabilities, ensuring operational effectiveness and reliability.
- Continuously improve development processes and tools through innovative engineering practices.
- Conduct detailed analysis and documentation of engineering practices to facilitate replication, scaling, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across program stakeholders and engineering disciplines, including operational analysis, hardware, flight simulation, and mission systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
