About The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer at NinjaOne, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our IT Operations product suite by designing and implementing scalable, high-performance software solutions. Your contributions will include developing new features, optimizing existing functionalities, and ensuring the overall robustness of our platform. You will be part of a talented team of engineers and technology experts dedicated to delivering mission-critical services that enable our customers to manage, protect, and maintain a vast number of endpoints and servers globally.
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence architectural decisions, lead complex development initiatives, and mentor junior engineers. You will be responsible for creating high-availability systems that support our cloud-based infrastructure, primarily built on Java, Kotlin, and related technologies. Your work will directly impact the efficiency, scalability, and security of NinjaOne’s platform, helping to meet the high expectations of our diverse customer base. The position is flexible regarding remote work, with options for hybrid arrangements at our physical offices in Austin, TX, and Tampa, FL, or fully remote within specified states in the USA.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of professional experience in Java software development, especially for product applications
- 5+ years of experience designing and working with highly scalable systems
- 2+ years of experience with Kotlin (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong expertise in API design and RESTful services, with frameworks such as Spring Boot or Jersey
- Proven ability to scale systems and address complex system design challenges
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and best practices
- Proficiency in relational database design and development
- Experience with caching systems, particularly Redis, is a plus
- Knowledge of quality testing practices and delivering high-quality software
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience

- Influence and make critical architectural decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on technical strategies and drive continuous improvement
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing best practices and establishing technical standards across projects
- Own technical initiatives, proactively identify challenges, and implement data-driven solutions
- Advocate for and implement rigorous quality assurance practices to ensure robust software delivery
- Contribute to additional team initiatives as needed to support organizational success
