What You Will Be Doing

In this role within our AI engineering team, you will develop scalable backend and API solutions, integrate large language models (LLMs), and create intuitive front-end interfaces. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions while ensuring compliance with security and healthcare standards. The position is a 6-month contract, with potential for extension or permanent placement. You will contribute to deploying, testing, and maintaining complex AI workflows and cloud infrastructure to support innovative AI avatars used in high-stakes environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable APIs and backend systems using Python, FastAPI, and related libraries.
• Design and implement media processing pipelines, data workflows, and model integrations with tools like FFmpeg, Torch, and NumPy.
• Build secure authentication, hashing, and encryption processes following best security practices.
• Collaborate on prompt engineering workflows, optimize LLM deployment, and manage RAG pipelines with LangChain.
• Create user-facing features with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend tooling to deliver accessible UI components.
• Automate testing procedures and ensure reliable, regression-proof workflows through Playwright and Jest.
• Architect and deploy cloud infrastructure on AWS, including containerization with Docker and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
• Configure and tune PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and maintain secure data flows in compliance with healthcare standards.
• Lead architectural decisions for new features, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-5+ years of experience in backend development, with strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, and security protocols.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG workflows, LangChain, and model deployment.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development tools.
• Solid knowledge of AWS cloud services including EC2, S3, EKS, Lambda, RDS, and container orchestration with Docker.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and automated testing frameworks like pytest and Playwright.
• Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, with a focus on data security and compliance in regulated environments.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, regulated settings.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience working within healthcare, financial services, or law enforcement domains.
• Background in MLOps, ML model deployment, or distributed systems architecture.
• Familiarity with C++ for performance-critical system components.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder communication skills.

Pay: $52.50 – $75.00 /hr
