We are excited to hire a full-time, exempt Controller to join our team within the Finance Department. The purpose of this position is to perform advanced accounting and financial duties to ensure the proper management and accountability of County budgets and finances. Monitor capital project expenditures, asset purchases, disposals, and transfers to ensure the Capital Asset are correctly recorded.
Projected Hiring Range/Pay Grade 127: $92,608.98 - $111,130.77. Salary is dependent on experience and education.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Responsible for multiple monthly bank reconciliations and interest allocations.
- Analyze and maintain County investments and corresponding reconciliations.
- Maintain debt schedules and ensures all required debt payments by the County are paid in a timely manner. (including for School Districts).
- Maintains accurate fund balances of non-spendable, restricted, committed, assigned, and unassigned accounts.
- Ensures monthly hospitality taxes are collected promptly.
- Develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the York County Hospitality Tax and Accommodations Tax ordinance.
- Assists the County Chief Financial Officer with fund balance forecasting for the County as well as cash flow forecasting.
- Assists the County Chief Financial Officer to ensure the County’s audited financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ensures proper procedures are followed in the County Library, Culture and Heritage Commission, and Fire Districts.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- Six (6) years of accounting, finance or closely related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certifications / Licenses
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
