Full Stack Engineer

Job Description

As a Full Stack Engineer at Exfluential, you'll be responsible for contributing to the development and maintenance of our web application. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills across the full development lifecycle, a commitment to delivering high-quality code, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable and robust web applications and services across the full stack (front-end, back-end, and database)
• Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
• Adhere to project timelines and deliver assigned tasks and projects on schedule
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, providing regular updates and proactively raising any potential roadblocks
• Exhibit a willingness to adapt to evolving project requirements, processes, and workflows

Technical Requirements and Proficiencies

Back-End:

• Experience with Node.js and Express.js, or similar JavaScript-based back-end frameworks. NestJS is preferred
• Understanding of database design and management (relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB)
• Familiarity with ORM/ODM libraries (e.g., MikroOrm,, Sequelize)
• Hands-on experience with queuing and async systems, such as:

• Pub/Sub

• Message queues, job processors, background workers

• Event-driven architectures

• Experience designing and evolving data models:

• Relational (Postgres / MySQL) and/or NoSQL

• Multi-tenant schemas and data isolation

• Experience building API services:

• RESTful APIs (required)

• GraphQL (nice to have)

• Versioning, auth, rate limiting, error handling

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP):

• Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, or GKE

• Cloud SQL / Firestore

• GCP Logging

• Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines, environment configs, and secrets management

Front-End:

• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
• Deep experience with Vue.js and its ecosystem (including Context API for state management)
• Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3, with hands-on experience implementing responsive and accessible UIs
• Experience with Tailwind CSS or other utility-first CSS frameworks
• Experience building and maintaining reusable, documented UI components
• Understanding of front-end build tools and workflows (e.g., Vue.JS, Webpack, Vite)
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous requests

General:

• At least 5 years of backend experience, and 3+ in frontend
• Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative workflows (e.g., GitHub)
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Understanding of software testing principles and experience writing unit, integration, and/or end-to-end tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud)

• Experience working with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Groq, etc.) — provider doesn't matter as much as hands-on usage
• Built or contributed to applications that integrate generative AI or LLM-powered features
• Familiarity with tools like Cursor, Windsurf, or custom local dev environments leveraging AI-assisted workflows
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
• Strong prompting skills

Location

• This role is only available to eligible candidates who reside in California and can work from our Rancho Santa Margarita, Orange County, CA office on-site three days a week, with the option to work from home on Tuesdays and Fridays.
