Position Overview
The Leading Hotels of the World is seeking an Associate Data Engineer as part of the next phase of our data transformation. The Associate Data Engineer supports the development and maintenance of LHW’s data infrastructure, ensuring reliable and accessible data for analytics and reporting. This role will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to build and maintain data pipelines, contribute to data modeling, and support data quality initiatives.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with early professional experience to deepen their technical expertise while taking on greater ownership of data engineering workflows. The role partners with Business Solutions, Business Intelligence, and Customer Insights teams to deliver high-quality data solutions and contribute to evolving DataOps practices.
This is a full-time position located in New York City. We offer flexible workplace policies that allow for working remotely 3 days a week and require being in our NYC office 2 days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery
- Develop and maintain data models to support reporting and analytics use cases
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure reliability, performance, and accuracy
- Implement and support data quality checks, validation processes, and governance practices
- Write efficient, scalable SQL queries and contribute to performance optimization
- Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Customer Insights teams to deliver timely, accurate data solutions
- Document data architecture, pipelines, and workflows with a focus on clarity and maintainability
- Contribute to improving data engineering standards, best practices, and DataOps processes
- Support onboarding of new data sources and assist in evaluating new tools and technologies
Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role
- Strong proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of Python (or similar language)
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts
- Hands-on experience with at least one modern data stack (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, dbt, Airflow)
- Experience debugging data issues and working with production data pipelines
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage tasks independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to demonstrate LHW’s performance drivers (Accountability, Adaptability, Collaboration, Curiosity, and Empathy)
Compensation
Annualized Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
Target Annual Incentive bonus: 10%
- Actual base salary within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, and location.
