Working as a Software Engineering Instructor at Lambda in San Francisco was a mixed bag. The mission to provide accessible tech education is strong, and I enjoyed interacting with motivated students. However, the internal processes could be more streamlined, and sometimes the workload felt a bit heavy for the team. Overall, a rewarding experience in the EdTech sector for those passionate about teaching coding.
The best part is seeing students transform into confident developers. The company culture is generally collaborative and mission-driven. There's a genuine passion for helping people break into the tech industry. Being part of this positive change was very fulfilling.
While the work is important, there were times when administrative tasks and evolving curriculum demands felt overwhelming. Communication between departments could also be more consistent to ensure everyone is on the same page with program updates.
Consider investing more in dedicated administrative support for instructors and refining inter-departmental communication channels to ensure smoother operations.
