About The Role
FDM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloudflare Developer to join our team working within the public sector. This role offers an initial contract of four months with the possibility of extension, providing an excellent opportunity for professionals to contribute to impactful projects remotely, based in Leeds or London. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance web applications leveraging the Cloudflare Developer Platform. This role requires a deep understanding of serverless architectures, edge computing, and full-stack development, with a focus on creating globally distributed applications that are secure, resilient, and efficient.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering production applications primarily hosted on Cloudflare. Deep expertise with Cloudflare Workers, edge computing concepts, and implementing stateful applications using Durable Objects are essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience with Cloudflare's D1, KV, and R2 data solutions, along with a strong understanding of the overall serverless ecosystem. A solid foundation in software engineering principles, distributed systems design, and application security best practices is required. Additionally, experience with debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications deployed across Cloudflare’s global network is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to adapt to evolving technological landscapes.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop full-stack web applications utilizing Cloudflare Workers and Pages, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Create secure REST and GraphQL APIs that run efficiently on Cloudflare’s edge network, adhering to security best practices.
- Build modern frontend interfaces using frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte to deliver engaging user experiences.
- Design and implement robust data solutions leveraging D1, KV, Durable Objects, and R2 to support application requirements.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and other security controls to safeguard applications and data.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Wrangler, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and resilience across multiple global edge locations.
- Integrate AI capabilities using Workers AI, Vectorize, and related services where appropriate to enhance application functionalities.
- Monitor application health, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements using Cloudflare’s observability and monitoring tools.
