The WTSS/GS is to manage safe pedestrian track access and Engineering Consist (EC) or Passenger Vehicle (PV) movements at the project’s Defined Areas (DA) within the station/depot.
(a) Perform duties of a WTSS/GS, at the temporary staging area, depot or mainline environment.
(b) Enforce the rules and regulations as trained in accordance with the Works Train Manual.
(c) Ensure safe movement of EC/PV inside the Defined Areas of mainline station trackside and depot.
(d) Ensure safe access by person-in-charge and work parties in an energised Defined Area.
(e) Local control of all access, person-in-charge, work-parties and consists or trains movement within Defined Area under his charge.
(f) Issue, control and maintain Works Train signage and equipment under his charge.
(g) Assist the Works Train Controller/Control Centres in the shunting of Works Trains inside the Defined Area.
(h) Work with the Works Train Controller, EC/PV and execute the instructions of the Works Train Controller.
(i) Setting up of protection e.g. sector limit boards, red flashing lights, short circuit device and setting and securing of points.
(j) Assist in the on-the-job training of new WTSS attached to his workstation.
(k) Perform any other duties assigned by the Works Train Manager or his representatives related to the Works Train operation.
Requirements:
(a) Minimum NTC 2/3, GCE O-level or equivalent qualifications.
The Personnel shall preferably have relevant past working experience in a railway environment and general construction safety knowledge or experience.
(b) Able to do any allocated shift of the three-rotating 8-hour shift duties.
(c) Able to do overtime work on a regular basis.
(d) Able to work independently and take instructions from the WTCO.
(e) Able to take charge, monitor and control small work groups.
(f) Able to report for duty during exigencies, etc.
(g) Able to handle situations, incidents, accidents and implement recovery
measures.
(h) Able to work in construction environments
