- Serve as Area Engineer and Chief of Construction Branch within the Veteran Affairs Support Division with complete responsibility for all assigned construction activities related to Veteran Affairs, medical facilities assigned to Portland District.
- Ensure timely and satisfactory accomplishment of all contracts, including numerous modifications to original contracts and on-the-spot decisions and instruction to contractors.
- Oversee all phases of assigned construction projects with authority to stop work that is defective or not in compliance with contract requirements.
- Ensure that all construction performed is accomplished in accordance with governing plans and specifications.
- Supervise the administrative, inspection, testing and office engineering functions at project sites.
- Review contractor work and quality control plans to ensure construction quality, safety and contract compliance throughout all phased of the construction project.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders throughout the entirely of the project which includes all levels of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers enterprise, federal and state agencies, hospital personnel, contractors, and the public.
- As the Construction Subject Matter Expert (SME) determine and/or recommend which project segments will be initiated, dropped, or altered.
- Manage and lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technical employees, administrative staff, construction representatives, contractors in the accomplishment of major construction projects.
- Apply knowledge of engineering, contract administration, construction inspection, office administration, personnel management, safety management and various Government regulations, policies, and procedures over assigned construction program.
