Serves as Branch Manager for Automation/Communications Branch AMA-920, with overall authority for administration and technical direction of the branch. Branch activities include, but are not limited to the maintenance, repair, installation/decommission and modification of NAS/NextGen Systems in support of the FAA Academy. The branch staff carries out the branch programs, maintains, repairs, installs/decommissions and modifies the systems and test beds used by the FAA Academy in their training requirements and primary mission. This position requires application of knowledge, practices, theories, concepts, methods, techniques, and abilities for the discipline to which the position is classified. Responsibilities include inspection/oversight, planning, developing, coordinating, deploying, implementing, maintaining, and replacing systems. Incumbent is required to interact with personnel from the FAA Academy and other organizations internal and external to the FAA. The Branch Manager reports to the NAS Technical Services Division Manager.
Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, an advanced knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an advanced understanding of the objectives of the organization/division/branch.
Branch Manager exercises final authority for supervisory and managerial responsibilities over the staff, including: selections, promotions, disciplinary actions, evaluations, training, awards, grievance resolution and equity of performance standards. Also responsible for establishing goals and objectives, managing fiscal and staffing resources, and coordinating significant program issues within the branch.
Prepares workload projections, equipment replacement, determines material support requirements, layout plans, etc. The work of the organization requires substantial coordination, integration, and decisions involving various complex and critical work assignments, projections, and administrative issues. Promotes teamwork and strives to improve the branch's business practices. Establishes branch goals, sets clear expectations, empowers and equips personnel for success, aggressively seeks opportunities to create a more informed comprehensive workforce. The incumbent must stay abreast of internal and external agency developments that indicate a need to reevaluate
branch goals, objectives, and methods for achieving them.

Contacts occur in meetings, briefings, job related activities and other Aeronautical Center forums. The purpose of these contacts is to discuss, plan, and coordinate work efforts; exchange information; ensure that information provided to outside parties is accurate and consistent; and resolve differences of opinion among managers, supervisors, employees, contractors, or others.
