Chief Operations Office (COO) is responsible for the world leading application of operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.
The Regulatory and Control Operations (RACO), a division in COO, is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing leadership of the Groups financial crime shared services. RACO leads the Groups approach to managing AML/CTF, and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provisioning of the following services.

RACO is a team of ~2500 dedicated individuals, and we partner closely with Line 2 Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and Line 1 Risk teams across the Group. Our external stakeholders are AUSTRAC and Law Enforcement.
The Law Enforcement Agency Team (LEA) teams are involved in providing information to State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, Regulatory bodies including Government Agencies and Governing independent bodies these matters often involve notices and court orders that need to be acted on within a specific SLA.
This role will be offering $75,000 - $95,000 base salary.
ON ANY GIVEN DAY YOU WILL
Utilise a customer centric approach when interacting with customers to facilitate customer or bank request, and actively working towards resolving customer enquiries and/or complaints in a prompt, professional and caring manner.
Understand the AML/CTF & Sanctions legal and regulatory requirements, landscape and internal compliance policies relating to your role and apply to the business.
Understand and carry out tasks using techniques documented in the Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs).
Provide the required assessment and investigation of events in accordance with agreed Service level Agreements (SLAs) as per Customer Value Proposition (CVP).
Prompt escalation of issues/risks identified within specified SLAs.
Proactively identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) by using productivity tools to drive increased quality, process simplification or increased efficiency.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of end-to-end business processes that is relevant to own area of expertise.
Maintain an up-to-date focus on financial crime, security related trends and emerging issues, and share knowledge obtained.
Undertake additional tasks as directed by your Manager.
WE’RE INTERESTED IN HEARING FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE
Prior experience in a Leading a fast paced processing environment
Deep knowledge and understanding of the Money Laundering Policies and Procedures
Deep knowledge of the Bank’s processes and products
Sound knowledge of computer systems and software (MS Office suite)
Strong data gathering and analysis
Sound understanding of regulatory requirements
Financial Services Industry experience preferred
Knowledge of the AML/CTF Act

Your new team:
The Data Security Team, a part of the wider Cyber Security Technology function, provides security controls and services that are utilised across the group. This team is responsible for the delivery & support of effective security services and continuous assurance over enterprise security controls within the bank and across its group entities.
We own and operate the Data Protection services to protect the Group. The services protect over 10,000 servers across a range of different On-Prem, Private Cloud and Public Cloud environments, along with over 56,000 end-user devices.
Your impact and contribution:
As the Senior Cyber Engineer – Data Security you will be responsible for the implementation, deployment and support of services such as Microsoft Security Suite of services, Tokenisation services and Cryptography. You will also participate in the implementation of complex changes and project delivery.
This role will enable you to build, deliver and deploy services and solutions as well as working on productivity initiatives to the platform through automation.
The role also provides delivery governance, technical support, and expertise to customers – responding to customer feedback in order to drive excellence, quality and performance.
You will also:
Be responsible in driving the deployment across Data Security services and solutions.
Work on Cryptography technologies to ensure ongoing data security across the Group.
Work on Tokenisation using Protegrity or similar.
Offer advice across modern architecture and design working across various security domains.
Have ownership in providing guidance on operation engagement and production stability.
Be accountable for analysing, reviewing and supporting service delivery in order to meet the ongoing technology requirements for the business, projects and stakeholders.
We are interested in people who:
Can manage and have the ability solve key initiatives, services and projects across the Group’s implementation and deployment Data Security services and solutions.
As the Senior Security Engineer, you will bring enterprise-level expertise working across a complex and large-scale environment with the main objective of managing Data Security solutions and services.
You will bring:
Proficiency of Data Security concepts including Transparent Data Encryption essential.
Experience of design/architecture is highly regarded.
Deep technical engineering expertise across data security and or DLP solutions essential.
Hands-on technical experience in multi-cloud environments (on premise/AWS/Azure) desirable but not essential.
Technical expertise working with Tokenisation using Protegrity or similar technology, essential desirable but not essential.
Working knowledge of various scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python etc.
Industry Certifications are an advantage (i.e. CISSP, CCSP, AWS, Azure, DevOps,)

[What you will be working on]

- Design, develop and deliver relevant course materials in On-Premise and Cloud based Networking, System Administration, IT Security, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, Security Penetration Testing & Operations and Programming
- Facilitate e-learning, enrichment and other self-directed learning.
- Supervise students in project works, competitions, and internship.
- Handle other academic-related duties and administration.
- Be involved in student development and mentoring, outreach programmes and community works.
- Engage in relevant research activities for lifelong professional development purpose.
[What we are looking for]
- You should have at least 3 years of relevant working experience in the IT industry and should be trained in computer science, computer engineering or cyber security with knowledge two or more of the following areas:
• Cloud Platform & On-premise Networking with different OS, servers, networking devices (router, switches, APs),
• Cyber Security Operations (Networks/ Web/ Apps)
• Security Penetration Testing, Digital Forensics Investigation
• Knowledge in programming / scripting languages such as Java, Python, C# etc.
• Knowledge in Operational Technology network security would be of added advantage
- Two or more professional relevant certification (not limited to the following): GIAC Security Certifications, CISSP/CISA, CSSLP, CEH, OSCP, OSWP CCNA/CCNP, MCSE/MCSD, Cloud Certifications (AWS/Google/Azure)
- Passion for teaching and student development.
Those with good and relevant experience can look forward to Senior Lecturer or equivalent positions, with career development opportunities to leadership positions in the Colleges or Headquarters.
