We are seeking a Research Engineer to join an applied research project focused on the development of an embodied AI robotic system for urban infrastructure inspection and maintenance. The project involves the design, integration, and validation of robotic mechanisms, sensing systems, and automated workflows for outdoor infrastructure maintenance applications.The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary research team and industry partners to investigate, prototype, test, and implement practical robotic solutions that can operate in real-world environments and support more efficient, safe, and scalable infrastructure maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate customised mechanical mechanisms for robotic systems, including robotic end-effectors, grippers, tool-changing interfaces, material handling systems, and task-specific automation modules.
• Develop 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical documentation using SolidWorks.
• Perform mechanical design analysis and engineering calculations, including load estimation, actuator sizing, structural integrity, tolerance analysis, and vibration/shock mitigation.
• Ensure mechanical designs are compatible with robotic arms, mobile platforms, sensors, and mechatronic systems, considering payload, reachability, safety, manufacturability, and maintainability.
• Build, assemble, and commission mechanical prototypes and experimental robotic systems.
• Conduct laboratory and field testing, analyse results, troubleshoot issues, and implement design improvements through iterative development.
• Source and evaluate commercial components, and work with vendors, fabricators, and contractors to support fabrication and assembly.
• Support field deployments and technology demonstrations with industry partners.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, test reports, risk assessments, and project deliverables.
• To liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met.
• Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, fabrication, and system integration.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly design, and engineering documentation.
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis.
• Experience working with robotic systems, sensors, actuators, or mechatronic systems is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Team Introduction

The TikTok Data Ecosystem Team has the vital role of crafting and implementing a storage solution for offline data in TikTok's recommendation system, which caters to more than a billion users. Responsibilities

- Design and implement real-time and offline data architecture for large-scale recommendation systems.

- Build scalable and high-performance streaming Lakehouse systems that power feature pipelines, model training, and real-time inference.

- Collaborate with ML platform teams to support PyTorch-based model training workflows and design efficient data formats and access patterns for large-scale samples and features.

- Own core components of our distributed storage and processing stack, from file format to stream compaction to metadata management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Final year or recent graduate with a background in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline

- Experience building large-scale distributed systems, preferably in storage, stream processing, or ML infrastructure.

- Solid understanding of Apache Flink internals, with hands-on experience in state management, connectors, or UDFs.

- Familiarity with modern Lakehouse technologies such as Apache Paimon, Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi, especially around incremental ingestion, schema evolution, and snapshot isolation.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in designing and optimizing Flink + Paimon architectures for unified batch/stream processing.

- Familiarity with feature storage and training data pipelines, and their integration with PyTorch, especially for large-scale model training.

- Knowledge of columnar file formats (Parquet, ORC, Lance) and how they are used in feature engineering or ML data loading.

- Proficiency in Java/Scala/C++, and strong debugging/performance tuning ability.

- Previous experience in Lakehouse metadata management, compaction scheduling, or data versioning is a plus.

- (Optional) Knowledge of legacy data stores like HBase/Kudu is a bonus but not required.

• Set technical direction for CPIE initiatives in UE_ROW, quality indices, Frontend–PTS integration, and high‑value bits (PG2+) yield, aligned to business priorities and technology roadmaps.

Requirements & Technical Competency

• PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.

• 8+ years of semiconductor industry experience, with deep exposure to product integration, process engineering, test solutions, product engineering, or circuit design.

• Recognized depth in semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment, and control systems.

• Strong proficiency in data analysis and modeling tools (e.g., Y3, JMP, Python).

• Demonstrated application of statistical methods and/or machine learning to real manufacturing problems.

• Proven track record of technical leadership, decision‑making, multi‑tasking, and root‑cause resolution on ambiguous problems.

• Assist and learn all aspects of work the environmental department carry out including stack emissions monitoring, ambient air quality monitoring, soil and groundwater monitoring and noise monitoring

This role is critical for the success of the global ESG Research & Engagement function, and the delivery of sustainability themed products. The analyst will contribute to the development of sustainable and responsible investment norms in the Asian region, where sustainable investment is rapidly growing in prominence. The ESG Analyst must be highly motivated to contribute to key projects that benefit the global work agenda and will report to the Head of ESG in Asia.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting proprietary research to assess ESG risks/opportunities and strategies of issuers of equities and bonds, designed to support portfolio management teams to incorporate the appropriate risk/reward profile of investments into valuations and to assess ESG risks/opportunities at a portfolio level

• Setting and executing on the ESG active ownership agenda for Asia in partnership with investment staff, or in partnership with investor peers for collaborative engagement, with the aim to position Manulife IM in a leading position on ESG stewardship in the region

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience (e.g. buyside asset management, sell-side asset management, ESG data or service providers, etc.) translating into deep understanding of corporate governance, environmental and social issues in terms of their impact on investment process and outcomes in public equities and fixed income investments

• Experience writing and producing investment reports and research notes, preferably with a strong sustainability focus and incorporation of ESG factors into valuation methods

• Deep Asia expertise and interest, including strong understanding of corporate governance trends and challenges in the region, awareness of dynamics and diversity of Asian political and economic systems

• Experience with public presentations and working collaboratively with other groups and peer investors
