Service Engineer – Gangway

Key Responsibilities

• Travel internationally and offshore to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair advanced marine and offshore equipment
• Carry out installation, commissioning, testing, and acceptance activities at customer sites and onboard vessels
• Provide technical support and fault diagnosis remotely, delivering practical and customer focused solutions
• Conduct inspections, maintenance, and system performance assessments to ensure operational reliability
• Support product testing, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Deliver technical training to vessel crews and customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Prepare service reports, technical documentation, and recommendations following site visits
• Work independently in the field while collaborating closely with engineering and support teams
• Expect approximately 60% international travel and offshore assignments throughout the year

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Maritime Engineering, or a related discipline
• Ability and willingness to work offshore and travel extensively worldwide
• Willingness to be based outside of Singapore
• Experience on maintenance or troubleshooting of motorised/ hydraulic access gangways is a MUST (At least 5 years)
• Experience or exposure to electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems would be advantageous
• Experience with PLC systems and software would be an advantage
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
• Hands on approach with a proactive attitude
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment

The Service Engineer's responsible is:

Job Scope

• Work closely with the Residence Manager and provide courteous services to guests. Respond efficiently and tactfully to guests’ complaints, requests and inquiries.
• Provide courteous and efficient service, striving to fulfill each guests’ request whenever possible. Ensure all telephone calls are promptly handled within three rings.
• Handle cashiering functions and adhere to the residence’s Standard Policies & Procedures.
• Maintain good guest relations with in-house guests at all times. Project a courteous and hospitable attitude.
• Take ownership of problems and promptly handle guest complaints according to established procedures. Report to the supervisor for further follow-up when necessary. Write glitch reports when required.
• Ensure guest room security, emergency, and fire procedures are followed. Encourage the use of Safe Deposit boxes (El-Safe) and adhere to policies & procedures for their use.
• Be familiar with SR facilities, functions, major city attractions and events. Provide guests with accurate information as requested. Maintain a professional and courteous working relationship with all hotel personnel, ensuring effective communication.
• Maintain a well-groomed appearance and a tidy work area. Keep personal grooming at the highest standard.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors, carrying them out diligently and professionally.

Job Requirement

• Experience in hospitality and knowledge of HMS will be advantageous
• Relevant experience like customer service and administrative support.

• Attend vessels for surveys, inspections, installation support, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical, automation, instrumentation systems, shipboard control, monitoring and alarm systems, including PLC‑based systems.
• Coordinate effectively with other disciplines (mechanical, piping, shipyard teams) with interface awareness.

• Support project execution through proper documentation, reporting and communication with managers, superintendents and vessel crew.

• Support class and survey activities with societies such as DNV, ABS, LR, CCS, BV or Class NK.
• Familiarity with marine electrical standards and technical codes applicable to electrification, battery systems and shore power integration.
• Demonstrates strong safety leadership, especially when working with live electrical systems, batteries, HV equipment and confined shipboard environments.
• Willing and able to travel overseas for vessel attendance, commissioning and surveys.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1)     Administrative Functions

·       Support the Service Manager in preparation of weekly and monthly service reports.

·       Process meter billing and ensure accurate updates in the CRM system.

·       Collaborate with the Customer Service Team to ensure smooth and efficient daily service operations when required.

·       Maintain proper documentation and service records for audit and tracking purposes.

2)     Technical Functions

·       Assist in the installation, setup, and configuration of copiers/ multifunction printers(MFPs) and smart office solutions.

·       Attend to on-site service calls and urgent breakdowns, ensuring timely resolution.

·       Support engineers in troubleshooting hardware issues (machines, networking, peripherals) and software-related problems (drivers, system integration, workflow solutions).

·       Assist in deploying and troubleshooting smart enterprise solutions such as document management systems, print management software, and workflow automation tools.

REQUIREMENTS

·       Diploma in Engineering, IT, Electronics, or related discipline.

·       Experience in copier/ MFP servicing, print solutions, or office automation systems.

·       Sound knowledge of network setup (IP configuration, drivers installation).

·       Proficient in MSOffice (Excel, Power point), MCSE, HTML

·       Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Able to work independently and as part of a team.

·       Willing to travel for on-site servicing across Singapore.
