Key Responsibilities

About the Programme

The Community First Aid (CFA) programme mobilises trained volunteer first aiders to serve as first responders at public parks and national/community events, delivering essential first aid and on-site support. Beyond peacetime deployments, CFA also plays a critical role in national Civil Emergency Response. Our volunteer first aiders form the backbone of CFA, strengthening community safety, preparedness and resilience across the population.

CFA consists of three key components:

First Aiders on Wheels (FAOW)

This proactive initiative under CFA involves trained volunteers patrolling popular recreational areas such as East Coast Park, Pulau Ubin, Jurong Lake Gardens and Punggol Coney Island on weekends and public holidays. They provide immediate first aid to park-goers, manage injuries, offer reassurance and activate emergency services when necessary.

Events Coverage

Deployment of volunteer first aid teams to a wide range of national and community events, including the National Day Parade, Chingay Parade, Istana Open House, community sports events and family day carnivals. By delivering prompt medical care, CFA enhances the safety and enjoyment of all participants and attendees.

Civil Emergency Response

CFA strengthens emergency preparedness through structured training and readiness exercises, including Emergency Response Team (ERT) training. CFA prepares volunteers and staff to respond effectively during emergencies to provide first aid support. This contributes to National Civil Emergency Response efforts.

Job Purpose

To lead and manage the FAOW initiative, ensuring effective planning, deployment and volunteer readiness while supporting the overall delivery of the CFA programme.

He/She is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times in the Student Care Centre. He/She facilitates and guides children in their daily routines, activities, and programs. He/She is responsible for implementing daily class activities, documenting student activities, progress, and behaviour, tracking student activities, and collaborating with colleagues within student care and from various sectors to support students with specific needs.

As a Student Care Facilitator, he/she builds rapport with parents and serves as the first point-of-contact for parents in all matters related to the child. The ideal candidate is proactive and pre-emptive, striving for an incident-free and accident-free student care centre.

The Student Care Facilitator is also responsible for adapting and implementing age-appropriate lesson and activity plans, and demonstrating excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. He/She approaches classroom and behaviour management with patience and a positive attitude.

A passion for working with children, strong organisational skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse needs are essential for this role.

Classroom Management

• Minimum requirement – ITE Certificate

REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal

JOB GOAL: The Learning Support Teacher provides quality instruction and support to identified students. Student support is provided through consultation with teachers to recommend specific strategies and accommodations (Level 1 support), classroom push-in/co-teaching with homeroom teacher (Level 2 support), and more intensive one-on-one support for students with higher support needs (Level 3 support). He/She is responsible for collaborating with colleagues to plan and implement support strategies and accommodations for all classes, in alignment with the school's learning standards and objectives. He/She also closely monitors student progress, provides timely feedback to students and other teachers and consistently communicates student progress to parents so that students’ learning growth is maximized. This includes learning support meetings with parents to review each student's learning support plan and learning accommodations and make adjustments as needed. The Learning Support Teacher is also responsible for the supervision of students during recess/lunch duties as needed/required.

Learning Support Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and principal(s) to identify and assess students exhibiting learning needs in the classroom, following the school's learning support referral process and Response to Intervention (RTI) procedures.
• Identify curricular and instructional goals for Level 1, 2, and 3 learning support students.
• Plan and write Learning Support Plan (LSPs) including semester updates and accommodations necessary for students to meet their goals.
• Meet with parents, teachers, and administrators (as appropriate) to approve Learning Support Plan (LSPs) for students (yearly).
• Observe Level 1 students in various general education classes regularly.
• Meet with Level 2 students regularly, according to needs and classroom schedules.
• Meet with teachers regularly to support students in the classroom through behavioral approaches and accommodations based on observation and documentation of student learning needs.
