Role Overview

As the Assistant Operations Manager, you are the backbone of the nightly "show." You will ensure that the transition from soundcheck to doors-open is seamless, managing everything from bar efficiency to artist hospitality. You are the second-in-command, responsible for maintaining the venue’s vibe while strictly enforcing safety and operational protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Show-Day Coordination: Oversee the "Run of Show" (ROS). Ensure artists arrive on time, load-in is efficient, and the venue is ready for doors-open exactly on schedule.

• Front-of-House (FOH) Management: Supervise bar staff, security, and ticketing/door teams. Ensure high levels of customer service even during high-capacity, high-stress events.

• Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to liquor laws, capacity limits, and fire safety codes. Conduct pre-show walkthroughs to ensure all exits and safety equipment are clear.

• Vendor & Inventory Control: Manage relationships with beverage distributors and janitorial services. Oversee inventory counts and order supplies to prevent "running dry" during a sold-out show.

• Financial Oversight: Handle nightly cash-outs, manage float for the bar and box office, and assist with settlement for touring acts.

Ad Hoc & Livehouse-Specific Projects

• Artist Relations (The "Fixer"): Handling last-minute rider requests, troubleshooting green room issues, or coordinating emergency transport for talent.

• Technical Liaison: Stepping in to assist the sound/light engineers with basic logistics if a stagehand is unavailable or if a piece of backline equipment fails.

• Crowd Control Maneuvers: Swiftly pivoting entry procedures or bar layouts based on the specific demographic and behavior of a particular night's audience.

• Equipment Sourcing: Hunting down rare gear or emergency replacements for touring bands on short notice.

• Social & Promo Support: Capturing "live" content during shows for social media or managing guest-list disputes at the door.

Employment type: 80% or full-time, including two half Sundays per month

Reporting line: Head of Programmes and Programmes Team, working closely with the Head of Development and Communications

About Uplifters

Uplifters is a non-profit organisation that enables migrant domestic workers (MDWs) to make their migration journeys successful through free online education and community support. Founded in Hong Kong in 2018, Uplifters has supported more than 10,000 domestic workers globally and established a Singapore entity in 2024.

We work across four areas: economic empowerment, wellbeing, domestic work skills, and support for employers. We are deeply community-led, with alumni trained to support new learners and shape our programmes.

Your mission

Grow the number of migrant domestic workers joining Uplifters for the first time.

You will be the public-facing representative of Uplifters in Singapore, responsible for outreach, learner recruitment, brand awareness, and community building — through both online and in-person engagement. This role is highly people-focused and requires confidence, warmth, and strong communication skills.

Key responsibilities

Increase the visibility and reach of Uplifters courses

• Develop and implement a marketing strategy with clear KPIs, using analytics tools to track campaign performance and optimise messaging for different audiences

• Conduct in-person and online outreach to MDW communities, acting as a trusted, visible representative of Uplifters

• Share field insights with the Programmes Team to continuously improve outreach strategies

Forge key partnerships

• Build partnerships to co-promote courses, expand access, and increase visibility through joint events and shared communications

• Lead information sessions for different audiences

• Represent Uplifters confidently in external settings, ensuring all communications reflect Uplifters' tone and values

Build and strengthen a community of Uplifters

• Involve the community through a strong referral programme

• Train community ambassadors, equipping them with resources and skills to support and promote Uplifters courses within their networks — with specific focus on cultivating leaders from the Indonesian community and fostering grassroots partnerships

• Organise regular check-ins and training sessions for ambassadors to share updates, gather feedback, and recognise their contributions

• Support Sunday community workshops and events alongside the Singapore Programmes Team

Working schedule

Working hours to be agreed based on contract type. The role involves regular weekday outreach activities, along with some evening and Sunday work for events and workshops. Sunday work is planned in advance and compensated with time off in lieu.

• Fluency in English and one or more of the following: Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, or Tamil

• Familiarity with analytics tools and campaign tracking

Compensation and terms

• Salary range SGD 4,200-4,700 depending on experience

• Leave entitlement: 5 weeks (full-time position)

• Must have the legal right to work in Singapore

• Visa sponsorship is not available
