Job Description

This position involves working on a project related to the coordination of large teams of autonomous robots (e.g., UAVs) in mixed cooperative-competitive environments. The objective of this position includes contributing to model development, solution, and implementation of such collaborative controllers on actual platforms, first in simulation and then on hardware. The role involves the opportunity to work with the PI’s team within the National University of Singapore, as well as a large industrial partner and government agency, plus overseas collaborators overseas. Requirments

• PhD in molecular biology, RNA biology, genetics, biochemistry, genomics, or a closely related field
• Postdoctoral experience strongly preferred
• Supervisory experience
• Experience in grant/ programme management, e.g. budgeting, variation/ virement, progress reporting etc is strongly preferred, ideally from multi-institutional programmatic type grants
• Experience in research management e.g. IRB, MTA, IACUC, GMAC submissions and/ or data governance frameworks etc is preferred

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our team in advancing the frontier of nonlinear optics through the integration of artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will lead projects that combine the development of Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) with advanced fiber laser experimentation to study and control complex nonlinear dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) models to simulate, predict, and analyze complex nonlinear dynamics in optical systems, particularly fiber lasers.

• Design, build, and optimize state-of-the-art fiber laser setups to experimentally investigate nonlinear phenomena such as soliton dynamics, modulation instability, and supercontinuum generation.

• Integrate experimental data with AI models, using machine learning to uncover hidden physics, accelerate simulations, and discover new operational regimes.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of physicists, engineers, and data scientists within the university and with external partners.

• Analyze, interpret, and present research findings in high-impact scientific journals and at international conferences.

Job Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering or other related fields.

• Solid Mathematical skills.

• Hands-on experience in designing and building fiber laser cavities for the generation of ultrashort pulses.

Responsibilities:

·       Lead research into state-of-the-art optimization techniques, including Quantization-Aware Training (QAT), Pruning, Knowledge Distillation, and Neural Architecture Search (NAS) to minimize latency.

·       Design and implement scalable AI deployment architectures that can handle high-throughput data streams from multiple high-resolution cameras and process sensors simultaneously.

·       Conduct hardware-software co-design to optimize models for specific deployment targets (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, TensorRT, FPGAs, or specialized AI accelerators).

·       Develop and manage asynchronous data pipelines that ensure zero-bottleneck performance from image acquisition to "final sentencing" decisions.

·       Establish rigorous performance profiling benchmarks to track model latency and memory footprint across various manufacturing environments.

·       Work with the System Integrator (SI) to ensure that optimized models are seamlessly integrated into the factory-level software stack.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ARTC is looking for a motivated, innovative quick learner with excellent interpersonal skills to join the Remanufacturing Process Technology Group (RPT) - Intelligent Remanufacturing Process Team.  The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in research and industry projects related to process control and automation design, leveraging on data informed AI decision making with process automation. 

The following areas will be included and mentored by scientists and senior staff:

• To develop and maintain automation architecture, including control loops, instrumentation, hardware, and communication networks.
• To design tooling and fixtures for automation of processing setups using CAD software.
• To perform system integration between sensors, actuators, and controllers.
• To conduct processing trials and experimental analysis to ensure process stability.  
• To conduct troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime and improve system reliability.
• To coordinate with vendors, system integrators and customers for support deployment of systems.
