The Role
This role will be a member of the Finance team responsible for local statutory and regulatory financial reporting.
This includes overseeing the local statutory financial reporting process, ensuring deliverables to stake holdersand statutory bodies are timely, accurate and complete and compliance with relevant accounting and taxation principles for the respective reporting bases.
The work of your team needs to be closely linked up with the work of the internal reporting and FP&A teams in Asia Finance as most deliverables required input from other teams. For example, the internal reporting team needs to close the Group’s reporting base (USGAAP) before translating the information to statutory ledger where local statutory reports are produced. On the hand, the timely and accurately accounting of related party transactions is a key task in the closing process.
In addition, your key stakeholders are colleagues from other functions such as Operations and Corporate Actuarial teams, other Business units as well as Division Centre.
Duties
1. Responsible for the statutory accounts of the Asia business units including a Singapore Branch of a related company. This includes
· Produce accurate and timely financial information for statutory and regulatory reporting purposes (eg MAS returns for SG Branches and FSS returns for KR Branch).
· Respond to ad-hoc requests and queries from both internal and external parties
· Provide support to the team from day to day statutory financial reporting operations to closing related matters, etc
· Produce annual (K-IFRS & SFRS etc) financial statements, disclosures, variance explanations and materials for board approval.
· Lead year-end and ad-hoc audit including driving audit planning meetings to closure, keeping to timeline and deliverables from other teams required by the audit team etc.
2. Responsible for leading the Financial reporting team in Asia Finance. This includes
· Maintaining a strong and cohesive Asia Finance team
· Managing and leading a high-performing team to work collaboratively with other function teams and other business units
· Managing the workflow and output of the team in accordance with established standards
· Coaching and developing all direct reports to achieve Asia Finance team and company goals and individual performance standards.
3. Responsible for related parties’ transactions:
· Ensure proper service agreements in place for all the cross-charges with related companies and the transactions are invoiced according to service agreements.
· Participate in budgeting cross charge in/out in annual business plan project
· Produce annual Asia cross charge booklet
4. Responsible of all tax compliance including:
· Review of corporate tax computation, VAT/GST returns, withholding taxes and other tax filings
· Attend to queries from IRAS/NTS and internal parties
· Review the transfer pricing and other tax related documentation
5. Ensure robustness in review, implement, and monitor appropriate internal controls and policies to ensure conformance and compliance with internal, tax and statutory accounting, regulatory requirements and regulations.
Qualifications& Experience
Technical expertise
– Chartered Accountancyqualified or equivalent
– At least 10 years’experience in financial operations and reporting of life insurance /reinsurance companies
– Strong understanding of the Singapore FRS and MAS reporting bases
– Strong understanding of the MAS regulatory framework
– Good understanding of corporate income tax, GST and withholding tax regulations
– Knowledge of MicrosoftOffice applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office) and account software e.g.Oracle PeopleSoft
– Very strong sense ofinternal controls and procedures
Industry knowledge
– Experience in Insuranceand / or Life Insurance
– Participate in IFRS 17project is preferred but not mandatory
Personal skills
– Experience in teammanagement and works well in a team environment
– Proficient in Englishand able to communicate effectively with people from different countries andcultures
– Organised, deadlinefocused, meticulous with an eye for detail and able to work with minimumsupervision
– Ability to managead-hoc, non-standard and often unstructured requests, at short notice
– Motivated to takeownership of work and to seek further responsibilities
