Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant position for the “Immunological approaches to Chronic Hepatitis B Functional Cure” in the Hepatitis Research Unit, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The large burden of CHB leading to liver cancer and end stage liver disease, can be addressed by treatments leading to Functional Cure (HBsAg loss), associated with ~70% reduction in such outcomes. There are many new agents being evaluated but the likely successful combination will rely on reducing viral antigen burden and stimulating immune responses. Our study proposal will provide insights into immune mechanisms of HBsAg loss, a strategy to maintain long term reduction in qHBsAg and a proof-of-concept study of therapeutic vaccine using a highly immunogenic HBV-CPG vaccine in CHB populations most likely to respond, those with low levels of HBsAg, , more information on the department is available at Department of Medicine. Appointments will be made on a yearly contract basis.

Chronic Hepatitis B (CHB) remains a major global health challenge, and functional cure, defined by HBsAg loss and immune restoration , is rarely achieved.

Our multidisciplinary program integrates clinical cohorts with mechanistic laboratory studies to uncover how hepatocytes transition from a pro-viral tolerant state to an immune-reactive flare state that precedes viral clearance.
This program is supported by longitudinal clinical datasets and paired liver biopsies, generating high-dimensional multi-omic data that require computational analysis to resolve intrahepatic immune and viral state transitions.

This research aims to identify molecular triggers and therapeutic targets that drive immune-mediated HBV flares, combining hepatocyte biology, RNA therapeutics, and spatial transcriptomics.

A major component of this work involves analysis of spatial transcriptomics and transcriptomic datasets to map cellular states, trajectories, and microenvironmental interactions associated with HBV flare and functional cure.

Key Responsibilities

Perform data analysis and computational workflows supporting the project.

Lead or support bioinformatics analyses including:

RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics data processing

Job Responsibilities:

• To respect and value each child’s social, cultural and religious backgrounds and by example, provide mutual respect and tolerance.
• To provide safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
• To assist Teachers in the teaching and care of a class in accordance with the school’s agreed policies and guidelines.
• To assist Teachers to provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling
• To maintain professional dialogue with colleagues concerning the children, other colleagues and the school.
• To keep all information and intellectual property of the centre confidential.
• To encourage children to take pride in their own environment and show respect and concern for others, to the benefit of the school as a caring and gracious community
• To assist Teachers in all aspects of classroom management eg. Care of equipment with resources well-labelled and accessible. Maintain a tidy, well organized room.
• To assist in creating an interesting and lively classroom to promote independent learning.
• To build positive links between yourself and parents of children under your care.
• To follow assigned work shift patterns of the centre.

Job Requirements

• Candidates must possess at least a Fundamental Certificate in Early Childhood Care & Education.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
• Have a passion for educating young children
• Able to work independently as well as in a team
