The School of Fine Art (SFA) seeks a versatile and forward-thinking Senior Lecturer / Programme Lead to oversee the management and pedagogical direction of the Diploma in Fine Art. This appointment is a critical hire to advance the School’s positioning within the evolving landscape of contemporary art practices.

The Programme Leader must possess extensive technical and theoretical knowledge across a broad spectrum of art mediums, ranging from drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture to mediums such as sound art and performance art. A key expectation is the ability to bridge contemporary art practices with AI informed creative practices, ensuring the curriculum remains at the forefront of an evolving art ecosystem. This position requires a proactive leader who can define directions for the programme, mobilise resources, and deliver outcomes that contribute to the School’s growth and reputation.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Programme Management & Leadership

• Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for the Diploma in Fine Art, ensuring rigorous delivery and academic excellence.
• Perform administrative duties related to the daily programme management of the diploma programme.
• Provide empathetic pastoral care and academic mentorship to students to support to ensure learner well-being and academic persistence.

2. Teaching & Curriculum Excellence

• Undertake 14 – 18 contact hours of teaching per week, providing expert instruction across various studio disciplines and emerging media.
• Lead the design and implementation of curriculum that integrates knowledge of AI literacy, ethics and AI tools/platforms into fine art modules.
• Govern assessment frameworks to ensure alignment with institutional quality assurance and higher education regulatory standards.
• Lead curriculum enhancement to ensure relevance to evolving art ecosystems, incorporating AI tools and workflows where appropriate.

3. Contemporary Art Research & Practice

• Engage in high-impact practice-based research, focusing on AI in creative practice.
• Drive high-impact creative outputs including exhibitions, screenings, and public showcases that elevate the School’s research culture and regional standing.
• Translate active studio research into innovative pedagogical frameworks into effective pedagogical frameworks.

4. Industry Engagement & Global Visibility

• Establish and sustain meaningful academic and industry partnerships within the contemporary art sector.
• Initiate and support strategic activities such as exhibitions, artist talks, and public showcases that highlight innovative student work.
• Position the programme within relevant regional networks to enhance institutional visibility and engagement.

Requirements

• Education: Minimally a Master’s degree in Fine Art or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of extensive academic and/or industry experience, including established track records in teaching and academic management.
• Technical Expertise: Proficient in AI applications and platforms in creative practice alongside traditional art mediums and forms.
• Communication Skills: Excellent command of written and spoken English, a good command of a second language, and strong presentation skills.
• Adaptability: Proven ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and meet strategic deadlines.

• To submit the following course materials in line with the respective learning outcomes to academic department for approval and printing not later than 10 days prior to module/course commencement date:

i. Module Plan / Lesson Plan

ii. Teaching slides; and\

iii. Learner’s notes.

• To submit the assignment brief of the assigned module/course to academic department.
• To issue and brief the students on the module’s assignment brief and the due date for submission of assignment within the 1st week of lesson.
• To ensure all student register their attendance on the respective day of lesson.
• To maintain high quality of teaching throughout the delivery of lessons in line with the lesson’s learning outcomes.
• To monitor student’s learning progress and performance, and take appropriate intervention actions such as academic counselling and additional tuition for students who underperform.
• To mark student’s assignments and submit together with the post assessment analysis to academic department.
• For examination, to mark the student’s examination answer scripts and submit together with the post assessment analysis to academic department.
• To participate and contribute effectively in the review of curriculum (modules/course) when requested by the academic department.
• To contribute towards the planning of annual enrichment activities (in line with module/lesson learning outcomes) and participate actively in the implementation of the related activities.
• To perform the role of vetter and/or invigilator when appointed by the academic department.

Our Education. SCIS has more than 100 students enrolled in the Ph.D. in Information Systems and Ph.D. in Computer Science programmes. Ph.D. students can specialized in any of our computer science research areas, or in the Information Systems & Management research area.

Our Doctor of Engineering (EngD) programme, a Professional Doctoral Degree, aims to train students to become IT leaders with deep technical expertise for innovating, designing and managing complex IT systems.

SCIS also offers Master of IT in Business, a professionally oriented coursework programme, which has more than 400 active students. We are seeking an experienced lecturer capable of teaching introductory to advanced Spanish to tertiary students. Knowledge in current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies is preferred. Candidates should have proven track-record in teaching, curriculum design, multimedia course materials development and knowledge of new technologies in language instruction. The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract basis.

Selection Criteria:

• Postgraduate qualification in Spanish as a foreign/second language, Spanish Linguistics or in Spanish studies.
