The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for Geroprotectors in Reproductive Ageing in Professor Brian Kennedy’s Centre for Healthy Longevity (CHL) lab in Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. CHL focuses on translational research targeting healthy aging, with particular emphasis on the use of repurposed drugs and natural compounds to improve reproductive healthspan. Model organisms include Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) and mice. This position is offered on a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the rigorous execution of experimental protocols and timely progression of project milestones. The RA’s role will be to screen for compounds that will increase reproductive health using the C. elegans model, and to study the effects of the compounds with aged mice models.

Main duties and responsibilities

The Research Assistant will work closely with the team to:

1. Perform large-scale compound screening using the C. elegans model;

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for developing printable inks based on natural material-derived precursors, such as natural materials-derived calcium phosphate, or related biomineral materials. Project Title: Development of a Holistic Progress Tool for the Early Childhood Sector

Project Introduction:

This project aims to develop a “Holistic Progress” (HOP) Tool that early childhood (EC) educators can use to observe and document children’s holistic development in the second year of kindergarten. Phase 1 of the project focused on the development of the first cut of the teacher-completed HOP Tool (HOP V1) and preliminary tool completion guide. In Phase 2, HOP V1 was piloted with K2 educators and will be refined into HOP V2 based on psychometric data and stakeholder feedback. In Phase 3, HOP V2 will be piloted with a new sample of EC educators of K2 children and child outcomes assessments will be administered to examine validity evidence. In Phase 4, focus group discussions will be conducted with EC educators to gather feedback on the HOP Tool and develop the user guide. 

Requirements:

• Master Degree in psychology, early childhood education, or a related field

• Proficiency in statistical analysis and familiarity with software like R, SPSS, or Mplus

• Experience conducting assessments with preschool children

• Experience with designing instruments or assessment tools and psychometric analysis

• Experience with preparing and administering questionnaires using online survey software like Qualtrics or Redcap

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow to lead AI for Science (AI4S) research, to develop AI software powered by large language models (LLMs) for process engineering and materials discovery, to mentor students, and to contribute to grant writing and publications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the conduct of research project with research team members to ensure completion of deliverables

• Develop LLM-based AI software to support process engineering and materials simulation and accelerate the discovery of novel materials

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Process Engineering or related domains, with a research focus on LLMs.
