Responsibilities
⢠Administer and maintain multiple database platforms including Oracle, MSSQL, and MySQL, oracle Encryption (TDE), Hardware Security Module (HSM)
⢠Monitor database health, performance, and availability; proactively address issues before they impact service
⢠Perform database backups, restoration testing, and disaster recovery planning
⢠Apply database patches, upgrades, and security fixes in line with change management processes
⢠Manage database user access, roles, and permissions in compliance with security policies
⢠Tune queries, indexes, and configurations to optimise database performance
⢠Support application teams with database-related issues, schema changes, and deployment activities
⢠Maintain comprehensive database documentation and configuration records
⢠Respond to and resolve database incidents within defined SLA timeframes
Requirements
⢠Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) in a production environment
⢠Hands-on expertise with two or more of the following databases:
 ⢠Oracle Encryption (TDE)
 ⢠Hardware Security Module (HSM)
 ⢠Oracle (including Oracle RAC and RMAN backup/recovery)
 ⢠Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL)
 ⢠MySQL
⢠Experience with performance tuning, query optimisation, and index management
⢠Familiarity with database backup, recovery, and DR strategies
⢠Understanding of database security, access control, and compliance requirements
⢠Ability to work within structured ITSM processes for incident, change, and problem management
Nice to Have:
⢠Database vendor certifications (e.g. Oracle OCP, Microsoft MCSA/DBA track)
⢠Experience with cloud-hosted databases (e.g. AWS RDS, Aurora)
⢠Scripting skills for automation (SQL, Shell, Python)
