Job Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity, stability and performance of COMO Hotels and Resorts. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, drives financial planning and analysis, strengthens internal controls, oversees treasury and cash flow management, and partners with hotel operations to improve profitability and business performance.

Working closely with Property Financial Controllers/Director of Finance, General Managers and Corporate Leadership, the Director of Finance provides strategic financial guidance and operational support to achieve the Group’s financial objectives. The position acts as a deputy to the Vice President Finance on key financial and operational matters, supports hotel openings and corporate initiatives, and drives finance process improvements to promote consistency, compliance and operational excellence across the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting, Accounting & Consolidation

• Oversee the preparation, review and consolidation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for all properties, subsidiaries and corporate entities.

• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, company policies, statutory requirements and regulatory standards.

• Review monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and financial performance reports.

• Analyse financial results and provide meaningful commentary on key business drivers, risks, opportunities and performance trends.

• Prepare executive-level financial reports and presentations for the Vice President Finance, Executive Committee, Board and ownership.

• Ensure proper maintenance, safeguarding and retention of accounting records and financial information.

2. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process across all properties and corporate functions.

• Coordinate operating budgets, capital expenditure budgets, long-range plans and rolling forecasts.

• Review monthly forecasts and provide recommendations to improve forecast accuracy and financial performance.

• Conduct financial modelling, scenario analysis and business case evaluations to support strategic decisions.

• Monitor budget performance and ensure timely identification and resolution of material variances.

• Assist the Vice President Finance in preparing consolidated Group operating and capital budgets with commentary and performance reviews.

3. Operational Finance & Business Partnership

• Partner with hotel operations teams to improve financial and operational performance.

• Analyse key hospitality performance indicators including RevPAR, ADR, Occupancy, GOP and EBITDA.

• Support operational decision-making through financial analysis and commercial insights.

• Conduct periodic reviews of property financial performance, operational effectiveness and compliance with Group standards.

• Provide finance expertise, coaching and guidance to hotel finance teams, corporate finance team and department heads.

4. Treasury, Cashflow & Working Capital Management

• Oversee Group cashflow planning, liquidity management and funding requirements.

• Monitor working capital performance and optimise cash utilisation across the portfolio.

• Review property cashflow forecasts and funding needs.

• Ensure timely collection of receivables, including management fees and reimbursable expenses, and effective management of payables.

• Support banking relationships, financing arrangements and covenant compliance.

• Identify financial risks and escalate significant issues to senior management.

5. Internal Controls, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure implementation and consistent application of Group Finance Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and governance standards.

• Maintain robust internal control frameworks to safeguard Group assets and financial integrity.

• Monitor compliance with statutory, regulatory, tax and audit requirements across all jurisdictions.

• Review corporate tax computations and tax filings and coordinate responses to tax authorities.

• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

• Review and strengthen finance processes, systems and controls to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk.

• Liaise with overseas advisors, agents and auditors to ensure local and overseas statutory compliance.

6. Capital Expenditure, Asset Management & Hotel Openings

• Review and evaluate capital expenditure proposals, investment business cases and asset enhancement projects.

• Ensure compliance with approved capital approval processes and investment policies.

• Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets.

• Support pre-opening hotels and ensure compliance with Hotel Management Agreements, local regulations, USALI requirements and brand standards.

• Verify that pre-opening requirements are fulfilled, including permits, licences, insurance coverage, bank account set-up, settlement of pre-opening costs and funding of operating accounts.

• Monitor compliance with FF&E reserve and owner-related financial obligations where applicable.

7. Leadership, Team Development & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, coach and develop the corporate finance team and support development of property finance leaders.

• Act as a trusted advisor to the Vice President Finance and operational leadership.

• Serve as delegate to the Vice President Finance during periods of absence.

Job Requirements:

Education& Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline.

• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred.

• CFA qualification would be an advantage.

Experience

•       Minimum 10 years of progressive finance experience.

•       At least 8 years within hospitality finance, including significant exposure to hotel operations.

•       Experience in a multi-property, regional or corporate hospitality finance environment.

•       Previous experience as Director of Finance, Cluster Director of Finance, Senior Finance Manager or equivalent leadership role preferred.

•       Experience supporting luxury hotel or resort operations is highly desirable.

•       Experience managing multi-country entities, statutory compliance and corporate reporting.

Technical Competencies

•       Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); knowledge of USALI preferred.

•       Strong expertise in budgeting,forecasting, treasury, internal controls and financial analysis.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, preferably with Post Graduate Degree in Corporate Finance or a Certified Public Account (CPA) with strong accounting and finance background.
• At least fifteen (15) years relevant experience in financial planning in a similar capacity, preferably in similar or related industries.
• Strong financial competence
• Excellent commercial and business experience

Key areas ofresponsibilities:

•Reporting to the Managing Director | Singapore, you will lead the budget process and as well as day to day financial operations

•Act as a strong business partner by providing insight and analyses to supportthe need of the business.

•Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and internal company guidelines.

•Work closely with internal audit team to manage company’s risk.

•Ensure data integrity and the appropriate process and system controls are inplace.

•Setting best practice with regards to controlling and mitigating operationaltax risk.

•Liaise with business leaders to understand service line requirements andoptimize the Finance resource deployment to assist.

•Liaise with external clients and Collier’s service providers to achievestrategic goals.

Financial Management

•Youwill lead a team of Finance Managers, Internal and External (outsource)Accountants to ensure timely and accurate book-keeping.

Ensuresaccurate and timely month end closing, Balance Sheet review and Profit and Lossreview (Full Set of Accounts).

•Coordinates with various stakeholders to prepare monthly forecasts and annualbudget.

Statutory Reporting (Audit& Taxation)

•Review the Financial Statements, Statutory reports and ensure timely andaccurate delivery of reports.

•Corporate tax preparation (ECI reporting, GST reporting, corporate taxreporting)

Internal Control &System Integration

• Review and improve accounting and finance processesfor better workflow, efficiency, and controls.

• Manage and supervise daily operations andperformance of the team to ensures a sound system of internal control for thedepartment.

• Participate in the financial system integrationprocess with global team.  

• Determine resource requirements andmonitor existing and new client engagements.

•Any other appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

•At least 7 years of relevant experience in a commercial environment

•Holds a professional accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant, CPA, ACCA,CIMA or similar) Strong knowledge of Singapore tax law, US GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley

•Ability to build relationships at all levels of business, both internally andexternally

•Proven track record in investment property management, in particular working onbehalf of institutional investors, including a thorough understanding of commoncommercial & industrial leasing practices, legislation, procedures, andterminology.

•Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills to generate informationthat provides sound business decisions.

•Excellent organisational and time management skills – ability to handlemultiple tasks and prioritise.

•Excellent presentation skills, high attention to detail, ensuring production ofconsistent, quality internal and external reporting and client submissions.

SNM is strengthening its finance functionto support a larger and more complexorganisation. The Director,Finance will improvefinance processes, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cost visibility, while ensuring good governance andcontrols.

The role will support Management and the Board with clear financial analysis and reporting, including for fundraising, reserves and investment-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

1. Finance transformation, planning and reporting

• Strengthen SNM’s finance function to support a larger and more complex organisation.
• Improve finance processes, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cost visibility.
• Lead the development of a clearer finance reporting spine, including chart of accounts, cost centre structure and reporting categories.
• Lead the finance workstream for ERP enhancement, systems improvement, automation and reporting efficiency.
• Build more useful financial analysis by service, site, programme and major cost category where relevant.

2.  Business partnering and committee support

• Partner the CEO, EXCO and Heads of Department on budgeting, financial performance, cost management and resource allocation.
• Strengthen cost visibility across manpower, operating expenses, shared services and other major cost areas.
• Oversee financial governance relating to subventions and other sector funding, including submissions, claims, reconciliations and reporting.
• Prepare finance papers, reports and analysis for the Board, EXCO and relevant committees.
• Support the Board and relevant committees with financial analysis on fundraising, reserves, liquidity and investment-related matters.
• Translate financial results and trends into clear observations, risks and recommendations.

3.  Governance, controls and audit

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, governance and funding requirements, including the Charities Act, IPC requirements, Singapore FRS and internal policies.

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, finance policies, delegated authority limits and reporting processes.
• Ensure restricted donations, designated funds, grants and subventions are properly tracked, managed and reported.
• Lead the statutory audit, internal audit and subvention-related audits.
• Coordinate responses to audit queries and ensure timely completion of follow-up actions.
• Strengthen governance and controls through disciplined remediation of audit findings.

4.  Team leadership and capability building

• Lead, guide and develop the finance team to support SNM’s next phase of growth.
• Supervise the Finance Manager and support capability development across the team.
• Review team structure, roles and workflows to ensure the function can scale with the organisation’s needs.
• Promote financial discipline and build financial literacy among budget owners and departments.
• Support a culture of accountability, accuracy and service orientation.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a relevant discipline.
• CA (Singapore), ACCA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• At least 10-15 years of relevant finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Experience in healthcare, eldercare, social service, charity or other regulated sectors preferred.
• Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial analysis, audit and internal controls.
• Experience in finance transformation, ERP implementation or finance systems improvement will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with subvention funding, IPC governance, donor-restricted funds and Singapore charity-sector requirements will be an advantage.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience supporting senior management and committees.
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgement and a hands-on approach.
• High level of integrity and commitment to the social service sector.
