The Social Worker, under the supervision of the Head of Department (Allied Professionals), is a member of the school’s AP Department. He or she works via an inter-disciplinary model with fellow allied professionals, teaching staff and parents or caregivers, and is responsible in providing support services and intervention to benefit students and their families, when difficulties exist and they interfere with the students obtaining maximum educational benefits.  He or she will maintain professional relationships with students and their families, acting as a guide, advocate and or supporter so that they are able to help themselves. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Social Worker (SSW) is responsible for facilitating change and improving the lives of individuals, families, community facing transitional challenges through the provision of direct services.

The Crisis Operations Worker is the designated case owner responsible for the end-to-end management of child protection crisis, from the point of intake and activation through to stabilisation and transition.

This role delivers timely, safety-critical interventions to Children and Young Persons (CYP) and their families who are experiencing acute or escalating risk. 1. Job Functions

• Ensure that residents comply with the Centre’s Rules and Regulations.
• Setting up of Individual Care Plan for all residents.
• Responsible for the Clinical Intervention components in the Centre (include counselling and caring services).
• Assist in ensuring safe custody of residents.
• Work closely with other departments/government agencies/Healthcare institutions.
• Ensure that the security measures are adequate in the Centre.
• Assist Deputy Head of Home in submission of reports of all serious incidents and occurrences of unusual and serious nature pertaining to staff and residents to the Home’s Management Committee.
• Work in close liaison with law enforcement, welfare regulators and other related agencies.
• Assess potential clients prior to admission to ensure suitability.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure residents’ suitability in the home and to assess and discharge when needed.
• Prepare reports for submission timely and submit for vetting by the Deputy Head of Home.
• Ensure that all records, accounts, documents and correspondence are properly maintained, kept current and up-to-date.
• Maintain casefiles of all residents and ensure casefiles are updated.
• Facilitate applications and renewals of Medical Fee Exemption Cards for all residents.
• Facilitate applications and renewals of Means testing for all residents.
• Facilitate group counselling, family sessions, one-to-one sessions and maintain case recordings.
• Facilitate home/hospital visits and other significant tasks.
• Work closely with the residents and their family for possible reintegration.
• To present cases to the staff of latest updates.
• Update residents’ family of significant incidents/hospitalisation/happenings.
• Responsible for the development of the Centre.
• Provide support to the Operations of the centre.
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of the Home, Licensee and Governing Board.
• Responsible to lodge a Police report when necessary.

2. Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Social Work
• At least 1 to 2 years of casework and counselling experience
• Good care management and counselling skills
• Certified in doing mandatory counselling cases will be advantages
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Meticulous and a team player
• Strong attention to detail and has the ability to work efficiently, accurately, as well as to follow up on pending items in a timely manner

5 days work week

About the Role

Guide Dogs Singapore (GDS) is seeking a Senior Social Worker to lead and grow our Vision Rehabilitation Programme (VRP).

This is not a typical social work role.

You will be responsible for shaping and leading a specialised social work function in vision impairment, working at the intersection of clinical practice, rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary care. The role requires both deep casework expertise and the ability to guide a team of social workers and trainers in delivering integrated, person-centred rehabilitation.

You will play a critical role in supporting persons with visual impairment (PVI) and their caregivers as they navigate adjustment, identity, independence, and community reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Leadership & Casework

• Lead psychosocial assessments using bio-psycho-social frameworks, including intake, triage, and risk assessment
• Provide ongoing case management and counselling for clients and caregivers adjusting to vision loss
• Support complex cases involving grief, identity reconstruction, and functional independence
• Guide case planning and intervention strategies across the client journey

2. Vision Rehabilitation & Multidisciplinary Integration

• Work closely with Orientation & Mobility Specialists, Assistive Technology Trainers, and Guide Dog Mobility Instructors
• Lead multidisciplinary case discussions and care planning to ensure integrated rehabilitation outcomes
• Strengthen collaboration across professional disciplines within VRP

3. Team Leadership & Supervision

• Provide clinical supervision to social workers, interns, and support staff
• Build team capability in vision rehabilitation social work practice
• Guide staff in handling complex psychosocial cases and group facilitation

4. Programme Development & Group Work

• Lead and/or oversee therapeutic groupwork (e.g., psychoeducational and support groups for People with VI)
• Design and refine programmes that support emotional adjustment and independence

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

• Maintain and grow relationships with hospitals, social service agencies, and referral partners
• Represent GDS in external collaborations and sector engagements
• Strengthen referral pathways for persons with visual impairment

6. Outcomes, Reporting & Organisational Contribution

• Oversee outcome measurement and funder reporting for VRP
• Ensure accurate tracking of client progress and programme impact
• Support organisational planning, reporting, and strategic initiatives

What We’re Looking For

• Degree/Postgraduate qualification in Social Work (recognised by relevant accreditation bodies)
• Minimum 6–8 years of social work experience, with strong grounding in casework and counselling
• Experience in clinical supervision and/or team leadership
• Strong ability to work independently and lead initiatives
• Comfortable working in an evolving environment where systems are still being developed

Candidates with the following experience will be highly preferred:

• Experience in disability, healthcare, or rehabilitation settings
• Demonstrated understanding of psychosocial impact of disability
• Experience working with sensory disabilities (vision impairment preferred)
