The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting a Research Assistant/Associate Policy Analyst. Rapid population ageing in Singapore raises important questions about financial resilience and retirement adequacy. This project aims to examine how life-course transitions in employment, health, caregiving, and housing shape income, expenditure, and financial vulnerability in later life. The study will draw on longitudinal datasets, including the Retirement and Health Study and will involve quantitative analysis and policy-relevant modelling to inform retirement and ageing-related policies in Singapore. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: (1) providing programming support for research projects; (2) conducting statistical and econometric analyses using longitudinal data; (3) managing large and complex datasets; (4) constructing indicators of retirement adequacy and financial vulnerability; (5) supporting policy modelling; (6) conducting literature reviews; and (7) contributing to scientific manuscripts, reports, and dissemination of findings.

The appointed candidate should: (1) hold at least a bachelor’s degree; (2) be proficient in Stata or R; and (3) have training in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, quantitative social science, public health, epidemiology, or a related field. Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration, or a related discipline
• At least 2 years of procurement-related working experience, preferably in the logistics or heavy haulage industry locally or overseas
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (eg. Pivot Tables, Vlookup)
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as NAV, Epicor, Fleet on Cloud, Autocount, etc
• Strong team player with high integrity and a proactive work attitude
• Able to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines effectively

Role Overview

You will play a supporting role in the daily operations of Ihsan Kidney Care dialysis centres by assisting the clinical team in delivering safe, compassionate patient care, while ensuring dialysis equipment and the treatment environment are prepared, clean, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Care Support

• Support nurses in carrying out patient care activities before, during, and after dialysis treatment.

• Assist with basic patient assessments, including observing vital signs, fluid status, and general patient comfort.

• Provide hands-on assistance for patients’ personal care needs, including mobility, hygiene, and positioning during treatment.

• Observe patients closely during dialysis sessions and promptly highlight any unusual symptoms or concerns to the nursing team.

• Assist during dialysis procedures such as cannulation preparation and needle removal, under supervision and in line with centre protocols.

• Respond appropriately during dialysis-related incidents or emergencies by following established procedures and escalating to nursing staff immediately.

2. Equipment and Environment Support

• Prepare dialysis machines prior to treatment, including setup and priming, in accordance with operational guidelines.

• Carry out cleaning and disinfection of dialysis machines, equipment, and treatment areas after each session.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly dialysis environment at all times.

• Report equipment faults, abnormalities, or safety concerns promptly to the relevant personnel.

• Assist with stock management by monitoring consumables and supporting inventory replenishment.

• Support the handling and organisation of dialysis-related supplies and medical materials.

3. General Duties

• Carry out additional duties as required to support the smooth operation of the dialysis centre.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Credentials

• Minimum GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ Level qualification, or a relevant healthcare support certificate.

Professional Experience

• Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical support setting is an advantage

Skills & Competencies

• Physically fit and able to assist patients safely with movement and daily care needs.

• Able to work well within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

• Caring disposition with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Arrangement:

• Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts across six days per week, including weekends and public holidays.
