About the Role
The Centre for Epidemic Response & Modelling (CERM) at NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health is recruiting two Research Associates/Assistants to support a diverse portfolio of research projects at the intersection of infectious disease modelling, Bayesian inference, AI, and public health. Projects span AI-driven epidemic forecasting, transmission modelling in the ASEAN region, social network dynamics and use for large language models for public good. Successful candidates will be embedded in a multidisciplinary team working with epidemiologists, clinicians, biostatisticians, data scientists, and public health agencies.

We welcome candidates with complementary skill profiles. One position is oriented towards computational/statistical modelling; the other towards data engineering, visualisation, and software development. Both positions involve hands-on research work and will suit candidates looking to build a strong research track record before or alongside a PhD. The postholder will work with Asst. Prof. Swapnil Mishra (Deputy Director, CERM and AI for Public Health Programme) and engage an active network of collaborators spanning CERM, NUS, Imperial College London, Ashoka University, the Communicable Diseases Agency Singapore (CDA), the National Environment Agency Singapore (NEA), the Machine Learning & Global Health Network (MLGH), and wider regional and global partners.

• Implement and test statistical and computational models for infectious disease dynamics (compartmental models, Bayesian inference, phylogenetic analysis, or machine learning pipelines depending on profile).

KEY DELIVERABLES:

• Demonstrate visible progress in foundational hair skills month by month.

• Assisting clients with essential daily tasks, including grooming and toileting, whenever the need arises

Classroom Management

• Assist and support Coaches in ensuring classroom orderliness in areas of physical structure and setting up of work stations during class

Community Integration & Activities

• Assist and support Coaches in community mobility programmes

Collaborative Partnerships

• Collaborating with colleagues across different disciplines to support and execute the programmes
• Partnering with parents and caregivers, including participating in-home visits, to ensure a holistic approach to the client's development

Contract Period: from 1 May 2026 to 31 December 2027.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

•Mondays to Thursdays: 8:30am to 6:00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break.

•Fridays: 8:30am to 5:30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break.

•Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.

School Vacation

Job Scopes：

The Services required are set out as follows:

1.Investigative & Case Support

•Assist in conducting preliminary investigations and fact-finding interviews regarding minor incidents.

•Obtain student and witness statements where appropriate and compile evidence and prepare structured incident reports to relevant KPs for directions.

2.Detention and Ignite Plus Follow Up

•Supervise students assigned for either detention (Monday - Thursday) or IGNITE+ programme (Monday and Wednesday) at any point of time.

•Ensure students complete assigned tasks during detention.

•Follow up with form teachers for students assigned for and have missed their detention.

•Ensure detention tasks are meaningful and developmental in nature.

3.In-House Suspension Support

•Support school staff in managing students sent out of class, on internal suspension and who are missing from class.

•Support learning continuity during suspension through liaising with form teachers.

4.Administrative Support

•Perform data entry support for late-coming, offences and interventions.

•Compile weekly or monthly discipline statistics when required.

•Assist in monitoring student reporting channel.

•Always maintain confidentiality of student information.

•Review detention, late coming and corrective work processes during the holidays.

5.Any other duties administrative and operational duties pertaining to student management that are assigned by the Authority during the period of employment.

Requirements:

•The Personnel shall possess a minimum qualification of diploma.

•The Personnel should preferably be able to use Microsoft Office applications and collaborative tools in Google.

•The Personnel should preferably have 3 years working experience in uniformed service background (Police, Prison Service or equivalent), with involvement in youth-related case investigation.

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) is a newly established interdisciplinary joint school under College of Engineering and College of Science at NTU Singapore. The Zhong group works at the interface of organometallic and organic chemistry to develop new generations of transition metal catalysts and reagents for novel organic transformations.

The Zhong group is pursuing development of new generations of transition metal catalysts for asymmetric catalysis and C-H functionalization. The candidate should have a BS/MS degree in chemistry with prior experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or transition metal catalysis in advanced institutions. The candidate should possess analytical skills including NMR, GC/HPLC, mass spec, etc, as well as experience in handling air-sensitive compounds with Schlenk techniques or glovebox.
 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Assist in routine lab research and data analysis in organic chemistry and organometallic chemistry.

• Assist in instrument maintenance, and acquisition of chemicals, lab supplies and consumables.

• Present research progress in group meetings and private meetings.
