The National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting one full-time staff to be jointly appointed in the Lloyd’s Register Foundation Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk (IPUR) and the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH). The position is on a research or practice track appointment. In addition to an attractive salary and benefits package, new faculty members may be eligible for a start-up grant to initiate their independent stream of research. Job Requirements

Research Track Candidates: 

1. Recognised Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (communications, behavioural studies, sociology, psychology, or other relevant social science disciplines) with strong post-doctoral research records;
2. A track record of publishing in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals;
3. Experience in leading independent research studies or a key component within larger research programmes;
4. Ability to generate and maintain an independent stream of research funding;
5. Ability to teach public health courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
6. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams;
7. Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.

Candidates will need to show a strong commitment to publishing at the highest level and a record of research excellence in theoretically sound, empirically grounded, and policy-relevant research. Applicants whose research and writing focus on risk communication in Asia will have an advantage.

Practice Track Candidates: Candidates should have 3 years or more experience at a senior management level in government, the private sector or media in the analysis and communication of safety and risk.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Assistant Engineer, who will be responsible for Electro-Optics System site support, perform troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and failure analysis to determine the cause of failure for the system. Diagnose and repair EO system issues in lab by using logical, step by step approaches to ensure minimal downtime for the customers. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong technical foundation and is eager to learn and grow at the same time ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks

• Support the team on Electro - Optics and surveillance systems for preventive and corrective maintenance at sites/vessels
• Update all fault reporting documentation for monthly project meeting
• Liaise with customer for maintenance activities, Able to communicate effectively with customers
• Perform in house repair of EO equipment
• Perform a rotational 24x7 standby services for fault recovery works at various locations
• Able to work offshore and Work At Height
• Support System setup, testing and installation
• Strong analytical skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions
• Perform other duties as assigned by superior

Salary:

Requirements:

• Min ITE certificate / Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Computer Engineering

• Preventive Maintenance Execution: Help carry out scheduled preventive maintenance e tasks to keep equipment in optimal condition
• Documentation & Reporting: Record maintenance activities accurately, including repairs, replacements, and inspections, under the guidance of senior engineers
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and regulations; actively maintain a safe working environment
• Inventory Support: Assist in managing spare parts inventory, notifying senior staff of low stock and needed reorders
• Collaboration with Team Members: Work closely with the maintenance and production teams to complete tasks and support the overall maintenance strategy
