Operating heavy vehicles (such as lorries, tipper trucks, and cement mixers) to transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from project sites

Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Vehicle Operation: Drive Class 4 heavy vehicles safely according to traffic laws and company policies.
• Transportation: Deliver building materials (e.g., steel, earthworks) and safely transport construction workers to and from project sites or dormitories
• Loading & Unloading: Manually or mechanically load and unload cargo, ensuring items are secured safely to prevent damage during transit.
• Documentation: Verify delivery items against invoices, purchase orders, and delivery orders. Update delivery apps, logbooks, and sign-offs accurately.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, fluids, and brakes) and report any mechanical faults immediately. Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the truck.
• Route Planning: Navigate traffic and plan the most efficient routes to meet scheduled delivery timeframes.
• Valid License: A valid Class 4 driving license issued by the Singapore Traffic Police (or relevant local authority) with a clean driving record.
• Physical Fitness:Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor during loading/unloading tasks.

Valid Singapore Class 4 Driving License.

Clean driving record.

Familiarity with Singapore routes and construction site locations.

Physical fitness for heavy lifting and ability to work flexible shifts (including overtime or early morning/night shifts).

Often requires additional safety certifications like the Construction Safety Orientation Course (CSOC/BCSS) or Lorry Crane Operator certificates depending on the specific vehicle
Drive company lorry to deliver construction materials, tools, and equipment

Transport NTS workers daily to and from dormitory and project sites

Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure roadworthiness

Load and unload materials or heavy items when required

Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of the vehicle

Follow site safety rules and safe driving practices

Report vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly

Maintain basic delivery and transport records

Follow traffic laws.

A Class 4 Concrete Driver operates heavy vehicles to transport ready-mixed concrete from batching plants to construction sites. Primary duties involve safely navigating construction zones, precisely unloading mixed concrete, and ensuring the concrete remains workable within tight delivery time constraints.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Vehicle Operations & Transport

• Safe Driving: Safely operate a heavy concrete mixer/cement truck on public roads and within confined construction sites.
• Route Planning: Plan optimal routes to avoid traffic or low-clearance areas to ensure timely deliveries.

Concrete Delivery & Handling

Slump Checks: Perform visual checks on the concrete slump (consistency) to ensure it meets customer specifications before pouring.

Unloading Process: Operate the truck's chute and mixing controls to precisely pour the concrete at designated job sites.

Time Management: Comply strictly with concrete pouring guidelines to avoid hardening (usually requiring discharge within 90 minutes of mixing).

Maintenance & Cleanliness

• Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct daily vehicle checks (brakes, tires, hydraulics, fluids) to ensure roadworthiness and workplace safety.
• Drum Cleaning: Wash down the truck exterior and interior mixer drums using high-pressure water hoses to prevent concrete from hardening and damaging the equipment.
• Basic Servicing: Perform minor troubleshooting and routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently transport goods from the batching plant to customer sites, providing excellent customer service.
• Unload goods at designated job sites within the specified time frame.
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned trucks at all times.
• Ensure mixer drums are free of hardened concrete.
• Perform visual checks on concrete slumps and follow standard procedures.
• Conduct truck maintenance according to the maintenance checklist at planned intervals.
• Deliver delivery orders (Do's) to customers, ensuring they are signed and returned to the plant.
• Perform additional tasks as instructed.
