As we expand, we are looking for a Finance Executive to support our finance operations with precision and efficiency.

You will be responsible for:

• Accounts Payable & ReceivableProcess invoices, payments, and staff claims accurately and on time.Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.Verify transactions and ensure proper documentation for all financial records.
• Financial AdministrationAssist in monthly closing activities, including reconciliation of accounts and preparing financial reports.Maintain organized records of financial documents for compliance and audits.Support the finance team in expense tracking, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Payroll & ComplianceAssist with payroll processing, including verifying timesheets and allowances.Ensure compliance with tax, GST, and regulatory filings.Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and banks when needed.
• Operational SupportWork closely with the retail and supply chain teams to ensure smooth financial operations.Support procurement and inventory finance functions, ensuring accurate cost tracking.Assist in implementing and improving finance-related SOPs for efficiency.
• AI & Process InnovationEmbrace and adopt AI tools to support day-to-day finance tasks such as invoice processing, reporting, and data analysis.Identify repetitive or manual workflows within the finance function and work with the team to explore automation opportunities.Stay curious and open to learning new tools as the company continues to evolve its tech and AI capabilities.

We would want to speak with you if you are / have –

• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• 1-3 years of experience in finance or administrative roles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Highly organized, proactive, and able to meet deadlines.
• Open to working with AI tools and keen to grow alongside a tech-forward finance team. (No prior AI experience required — just the right mindset.)

We are looking for a Finance Manager who can strengthen financial discipline, improve decision quality, and build systems that help Sunnystep scale from a founder-led business into a more structured, data-driven company.

Role mission

Own Sunnystep’s finance operations, reporting, controls, cash flow visibility, and business finance support. This person should turn finance from a reporting function into a management system that helps the company make faster, sharper, and more profitable decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, payment cycles, and cash visibility.
• Build budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across retail, ecommerce, inventory, marketing, and operations.
• Partner with leadership to analyze profitability, margins, inventory efficiency, store performance, channel performance, and cost control.
• Strengthen internal controls, approval processes, reconciliations, audit readiness, and compliance.
• Manage accounting operations including AP, AR, bank reconciliation, month-end close, GST/tax coordination, and statutory filings with external partners where needed.
• Improve finance systems, dashboards, workflows, and automation using AI/tools where practical.
• Support grant claims, funding, financing, board/investor reporting, and strategic finance projects.
• Build and lead a lean finance team as the company scales.

What success looks like in the first 6 months

• Monthly close is accurate, predictable, and completed on time.
• Leadership has clear visibility on cash flow, profitability, margins, and key financial risks.
• Budget vs actual reporting is operating monthly with clear owners and actions.
• Finance controls are tightened without slowing down strong execution.
• Manual finance work is reduced through better systems, templates, dashboards, or automation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant finance/accounting experience.
• Retail, ecommerce, consumer goods, inventory-heavy, or high-growth SME experience is a strong plus.
• Audit experience is a plus, especially exposure to controls, reconciliations, financial statements, or process improvement.
• Strong accounting foundation and comfort owning month-end close, reporting, reconciliation, controls, and compliance.
• Able to translate numbers into business decisions, not just prepare reports.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with Xero, ERP, POS/ecommerce/payment systems, BI tools, or automation tools preferred.
• High attention to detail, strong ownership, and ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment.
• Comfortable building processes from scratch and improving messy systems.
• AI-native mindset: willing to use AI tools and automation to improve finance speed, accuracy, and leverage.
• CPA/ACCA/CA or equivalent is preferred but not required if operating track record is strong.

Ideal profile

Someone who is precise but practical, commercially sharp, systems-minded, and comfortable working directly with founders/leadership. The best fit is not a passive accountant — it is a finance operator who can build the financial backbone for a company scaling fast.

You'll operate as an AI Product Manager in training, working directly with the CEO / product lead to build, ship, and iterate AI-powered features that improve business metrics (conversion, productivity, customer satisfaction, cost reduction). This is not a "research role". You are expected to ship weekly, learn fast, and turn ambiguous problems into working product flows.

What You'll Own (Core Responsibilities)

• AI Feature Delivery (End-to-End) Convert business problems into clear product requirements (PRDs, user stories, workflows).Build MVPs fast using LLMs + simple workflows (prompting, RAG, automation, human-in-the-loop).Partner with engineers/design to ship, measure, iterate.Own rollout, adoption, training, and feedback loops.
• User & Workflow Design (Practical, Not Theoretical) Conduct lightweight discovery: shadow users, interview store teams/internal stakeholders.Map workflows (before/after): time saved, error reduction, throughput increase.Define UX for AI features (approval flows, confidence display, fallback behavior).
• Data + Product Analytics Track and improve key metrics: adoption, usage frequency, activation rate, task success rate.Set up dashboards or lightweight measurement systems (Sheets/Looker/Lark/SQL).Use evidence to decide what to build next—no guesswork.
• Prompting + Evaluation Discipline Design prompts and test systematically (A/B variants, edge cases).Build evaluation sets and define “good output” standards.Reduce hallucinations and failure modes using guardrails + structured outputs.
• Operator Mindset (Execution + Systems) Turn messy workflows into repeatable SOPs.Create playbooks so results scale beyond you.Handle stakeholder alignment and updates with clarity and speed.

Minimum Requirements (Must Have)

• Strong structure and writing: can produce clear PRDs and specs.
• High agency: takes initiative without being asked repeatedly.
• Comfort with ambiguity + speed: you don’t freeze when it’s unclear.
• Basic AI literacy:understands what LLMs can/can’t docan write prompts and test systematically knows simple concepts like RAG, embeddings, evaluation
• Analytical ability: can interpret data and form a crisp recommendation.

Preferred Requirements (Big Advantage)

• Built something tangible before (app, automation, dashboard, prototype).
• Experience with tools like:Notion/Lark, Sheets, SQL basicsZapier/Make, Airtable, RetoolPython, API basics
• Prior exposure to retail, e-commerce, customer support, operations.
