Job Summary
You will prepare meals by weighing, measuring, mixing, and cooking ingredients using various methods while ensuring food freshness and kitchen cleanliness. You will support and inspire kitchen staff and deliver excellent dining experiences to guests.
Responsibilities
- Weigh, measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to recipes to ensure consistent meal quality
- Cook meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients by steaming, grilling, broiling, baking, or frying to meet menu standards
- Inspect food and ingredients for freshness and quality before preparation
- Arrange and garnish dishes to enhance presentation and guest satisfaction
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils to meet sanitation standards
- Collaborate with the restaurant manager to lead and motivate kitchen staff for efficient operations
- Manage time effectively to complete food preparation and cooking within service deadlines
- Deliver high-quality dishes that exceed guest expectations and enhance their dining experience
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Culinary school degree (2-4 years) or foreign equivalency
- Prior experience in food and beverage service and food preparation roles
- Thorough knowledge of hot and cold food preparation techniques
- Good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and health codes
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, grinders, and food processors
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
