About the Role

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Payroll Associate / Senior Associate to manage manpower expenditure (EOM) related to research grants and support payroll operations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with numbers, systems, and cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do

Researcher Grants Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for all manpower expenditure (EOM)–related grant activities, liaising with both external stakeholders (grantors and appointed auditors) and internal stakeholders (Finance, Office of Research, and Principal Investigators).

1. Electromagnetism and Plasmonics: Theory and computational modeling of electromagnetism in complex media, plasmonic systems, and metamaterials, with a particular focus on cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) and interactions between light and matter at the nanoscale.
2. Inverse Design in Nanophotonics and Quantum Nanophotonics: Application of inverse design techniques to optimize and design novel photonic structures and devices, including metasurfaces, photonic crystals, and quantum nanophotonic systems.

Senior Research Fellow in Computational Modelling of Smart Knitted Textiles

We seek a Senior Research Fellow (3–5 years postdoctoral experience) to join a multidisciplinary team working on computational modelling of knitted textile structures for energy harvesting applications. The postholder will develop and apply advanced modelling and data-driven methods to establish quantitative links between textile architecture and functional performance, working in close collaboration with experimental colleagues.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a shared component library and design system.

• Ensure storytelling features - such as portfolios, reflections, and submissions are intuitive and engaging for users.

3.Platform Integration with Backend APIs

• Integrate front-end interfaces with backend APIs and services.

• Work with backend engineers to define efficient data flows and API contracts.

• Design and implement asynchronous workflows to support responsive user experiences, including handling long-running background processes such as large or bulk file uploads.

4.Code Quality & Performance

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following modern front-end best practices.

• Participate in code reviews and maintain consistent development standards.

• Implement testing approaches for front-end functionality and optimize application performance and load times.

5.Collaboration & Product Development

• Participate in product discussions, sprint planning, and technical design reviews.

• Provide front-end input on feature feasibility, development effort, and implementation strategies.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• At least 2 - 4 years of professional front-end development experience, building web applications.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, knowledge in at least one JavaScript framework, and TypeScript (along with strong fundamentals in HTML and CSS).

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous data flows and event handling.

• Experience implementing responsive, mobile-ready, and accessible web interfaces.

• Familiarity with modern front-end bundling tooling or build pipelines such as Vite, Webpack, or similar build systems.

• Proficiency with Git-based version control workflows.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with design systems and component-driven development.

• Knowledge of Alpine.JS (on Django)/React, or familiarity with state management libraries (strongly preferred, but not required).

• Experience with front-end testing frameworks.

• Basic understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG).

• Experience working on portfolio platforms, content platforms, or educational technology products.

• Demonstrate flexibility in contributing to back-end development where required, in response to evolving project needs and stakeholder contexts.

Job Requirements for Tenure-track/Tenured Faculty 

We seek to fill positions in several areas including but not restricted to statistical and machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), operations research, data science, and industrial and systems engineering, with applications to healthcare, sustainability, supply chains and logistics, urban mobility, and quantitative finance.  

The successful candidates should be specialised in an engineering systems-related field and have solid grounding in one or more systems methodologies including, but not limited to, AI/ML, optimization, stochastic modelling, statistics, game theory, financial engineering, and simulation. Empirical, experimental, computational, and analytical research approaches are all welcome. Candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to developing and maintaining an active research program.

What You'll Do
The Language and Social Cognition Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design invite applications for a Research Fellow to join an interdisciplinary research project examining human-human and human-AI communication in multilingual/multicultural contexts, with a particular focus on senior adults in Singapore.  

This project examines how linguistic diversity, cultural norms, and aging shape communicative breakdowns and adaptations in interactions involving large language model (LLM)-based conversational agents. The candidate will conduct mixed-methods research, including interviews, behavioral experiments, discourse analysis of multilingual dialogue, and field user studies in local elder-care settings. The candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team across psychology, HCI, and AI, contributing to the evaluation of proactive AI companion agents with respect to cultural sensitivity, engagement, and usability.   

Who We're Looking For

• At least a PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Communication Science, or related fields.
• Strong background in psychological research methods (e.g., behavioral, experimental, interviews, mixed methods) is required.
• Experience in conducting research with senior adults, multicultural or multilingual research, and/or human-AI interaction is preferred.
• Knowledge of or willingness to work with LLM-based systems will be a strong asset.

This position is for one-year contract, with the possibility of a one-year extension subject to performance and funding availability.
