Job Summary
You will prepare and paint surfaces by reading blueprints, making on-site preparations, mixing paints, and applying finishes while ensuring safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and instructions to assess the type and amount of painting work required
- Examine surfaces to determine necessary preparation and painting methods
- Build scaffolding and cover fixtures to prepare the site for painting
- Prepare walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, and removing old paint to ensure proper adhesion
- Fill cracks and holes using appropriate materials such as plaster to create smooth surfaces
- Mix paint and materials to achieve the correct color and texture for each job
- Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes accurately using various tools according to instructions
- Calculate painting costs and negotiate prices with clients or supervisors
- Follow all health and safety precautions to maintain a safe work environment
- Use painting tools such as brushes and caulking guns with skill and precision
- Maintain manual dexterity and balance to safely work on scaffolding and ladders
- Pay close attention to detail to ensure high-quality painting results
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proven experience as a painter
- Excellent knowledge of painting materials and their selection, mixing, and application
- Solid knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques

- Must be available to work outside regular hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and any shift (night/day) as needed
